Charles Daniel Vail, DVM, Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    CENTENNIAL, CO, November 01, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Charles Daniel Vail with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Vail celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Dr. Vail has established himself as a reputable member of the Littleton community for his expertise in equine veterinary medicine. Born in Denver, Colorado, Dr. Vail has been a prominent figure in the thoroughbred and quarter horse racing industry since 1958. From 2007 to 2016, he worked at the Littleton Equine Medical Center, previously serving an equine practitioner at the Littleton Large Animal Clinic from 1960 to 2007. He has also worked as a track veterinarian at the Centennial Race Track in 1962 as well as an assistant veterinarian at the Colorado Racing Commission in 1958. Outside of the veterinarian's office, he currently serves as a commissioner of the Colorado Racing Commission, a position he has held since 2007.

Dr. Vail graduated with a doctorate in veterinary medicine from Colorado State University College of Medicine in 1960. The university named him into the College of Medicine's gallery of distinguished graduates in 1989. He was also honored with an Alumni Award by the College of Veterinary Medicine in 1991. In addition, Dr. Vail holds a Bachelor of Science from Colorado Agricultural and Mechanical College. He was the editor-in-chief of Equine Practice from 1986 to 2000, and has contributed numerous articles to professional journals.

Beyond his professional responsibilities, Dr. Vail has served his community in numerous capacities. He was a member of the Arapahoe Fair Association from 1965 to 1984, and has served as a member of the selection committee of the Outstanding Biology Teacher Award of Colorado since 1988 as well as from 1978 to 1980. Additionally, he served as chairman of the Littleton Rotary Western Heritage Art Fair and as a member of the development council of Colorado State University from 2002 to 2006. He was also an examiner in Clinical Practitionary since 2007.

Furthermore, Dr. Vail was on the board of directors of the Animal Assistance Foundation of Denver from 1991 to 2004, and served the foundation previously as vice president and president. He was also the president and vice president of the Western Veterinary Conference. Furthermore, Dr. Vail was also a member of both the Friends of Littleton Public Library and Museum and the Rocky Mountain Stroke Association, as well as a board member of the Araphoe Community College Foundation.

Dr. Vail has served as an active member of multiple organizations. He currently serves as a member of the clinical proficiency examination faculty of the American Veterinary Medical Association, and he previously served on the association's publication committee. He is a lifetime member and past president of the American Association of Equine Practitioners. He served as president of the Colorado Veterinary Medicine Association and was commended by the organization with the Veterinarian of the Year Award in 1987.

Dr. Vail has also served as president of the Denver Area Veterinary Medicine Society and both vice president and president of the Araphahoe Town and Gown Society. He has also been president of the Colorado State University Alumni Association, and president and board member of the Littleton Rotary Club. He is also affiliated with such organizations as Nottingham Club, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, and Omicron Delta Kappa.

Dr. Vail received the Meritorious Service Award by the Western Veterinary Conference in 2008. He has been featured in numerous editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the West, and Who's Who in the World. Dr. Vail has been married to Jean Williams Ebsen for 54 years, with whom he has had two children: Ellen Marie and David Elston. In his spare time, he enjoys trout fishing and reading.
