A lifelong artist and longtime instructor of drawing, painting, and ceramics, Ms. Wilhelm Doster is known to many as both an amazing artist and talented teacher. Certified since 1956 in both illustration and design by the Art Instruction School of Minneapolis, and in design and painting since 1960 by the Maryland Institute College of Art, where she also later completed postgraduate work, she had begun exhibiting her work across the state of Maryland by 1969. She was also the owner of Studio Eight, Tidewater Center for the Arts, and received the Peabody Award from the Maryland Institute of Art in 1960.

Ms. Wilhelm Doster has been exhibited in more than a dozen one-woman shows throughout Maryland, including at the Hampstead Library Gallery, the Hanover Art Guild, and the Heron Point Gallery. She has also been exhibited in over 30 group shows across Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia, and Ohio, including at the Paynter Gallery, the National League of Pen Women, and the Wilberg Art Gallery.

A big proponent of active community contribution when it comes to her field of expertise, Ms. Wilhelm Doster served as a craft superintendent for the Carroll County 4H Fair from 1982 to 1985, during which time she was also a leader of the Shiloh Clovers. She served in various roles for organizations, as president of the Carroll County Arts Council, for Caroline County Arts Association, and as a judge for the Montgomery County Fair, the Howard County Fair, the Baltimore County 4-H Fair, the Frederick County Fair, and the Caroline County Fair for many years. She has also been very active on countless organizations, including as board art chairman, first vice president, president of the Carroll branch and state president of the National League of American Pen Women, as well as treasurer for 16 years and chairman of the miniature painting show of the Working Artist Forum. She received a Holly Branch Blue Ribbon People's Choice Award and has also served as co-chair on the board of directors of Local Color of Easton, co-chair of the Plein Aire Easton's Mid-Shore Choose Three Competition, and member of the Plein Aire Painters of the Eastern Shore.

Ms. Wilhelm Doster received countless awards for her talents between 1960 and 2012, including a Best of Painters Award by the Artisan's Fair Queen Anne Rotary Club, a Medal by the Governor and First Lady of Maryland, and a Cochran Award by the Rehoboth Art League. She has also been included in dozens of editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who of American Women between 1986 and 2017. A mother of two, Ms. Wilhelm Doster will be celebrating her 60th wedding anniversary with her husband, Jesse Alfred Doster, in February 2018.
