WORCESTER, MA, November 09, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Marianne E. Felice, MD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Felice celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A board-certified pediatrician, Dr. Felice is a tenured professor of Pediatrics and Obstetrics/Gynecology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School where she has been on the faculty for over 19 years. She was Chair of the Department of Pediatrics and Physician-in-Chief of the UMass Memorial Children's Medical Center from 1998-2012. In 2001-2002, she was the Interim CEO of the UMass Memorial Health Care System.

Prior to her position at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, she was Vice Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Maryland Medical Center and Chief of the Division of Adolescent Medicine at that institution. She was also influential at the University of California at San Diego where she was the founding Chief of the Division of Adolescent Medicine. Dr. Felice has had a number of other roles in her career including the Director of the Behavior Pediatrics Residency Program at the University of Maryland and as a science teacher at Domenec High School for girls in Pittsburgh.

Some of Dr. Felice's academic activities have included research on adolescent health issues with a focus on adolescent sexuality, teen pregnancy, and adolescent sexual abuse. She is interested in cross-cultural health care topics especially as it relates to the provision of optimal healthcare for recently immigrated adolescents. Dr. Felice was fortunate to have had continued funding from the federal Office of Health and human Services for more than 30 years, which enabled her to develop adolescent pregnancy prevention programs in three different states.

In fact, in Worcester, MA, Dr. Felice developed the Worcester Teen Tot Connection that provided comprehensive, interdisciplinary health care for teen mothers and their infants in the same visit with the intent to reduce repeat pregnancies within two years of the first birth, ensure that all infants were immunized by the age of two years, and assist each young mother to return to school and finish her education. She is also concerned about racial disparity in infant mortality and for 11 years, she chaired the Worcester Infant Mortality Reduction Task Force, a multi-agency work group, under the umbrella of the Department of Public Health on the local and state level.

A 1972 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine with a medical degree, Dr. Felice earned her undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, at Carlow University in Pittsburgh, PA. She completed her pediatric residency at Harrisburg Polyclinic Hospital, after which she pursued fellowship training at the University of Maryland Medical School in two fields, Behavioral Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. She pursued additional postgraduate work at both Johns Hopkins University from 1995-1997 and Harvard University's School of Public Health in 2001. She has been licensed to practice medicine in Pennsylvania, Maryland, California, and Massachusetts. Dr. Felice is a Diplomat of the American Board of Pediatrics.

Dr. Felice has served as a visiting professor numerous times throughout her career and has been a member of many professional organizations, often in leadership positions. She has edited or authored 6 books, 54 book chapters, more than 50 peer-reviewed journal articles, and 79 abstracts in her field. She has been honored countless times for her work locally and nationally. Most recently, UMass Medical School chose Dr. Felice to be the 2017 Keynote Speaker for Women's History Month, and in 2015 she received the Outstanding Mentoring to Women Faculty Award by the Women's Faculty Committee. Furthermore, Dr. Felice was awarded the 2013 Woman Physician Leadership Award by the Massachusetts Medical Society, and was named the 2012 Outstanding Woman in Pediatric Academic Medicine honoree by the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine. She has also been named to the List of Best Doctors in America every year since 1993 and has been included in Who's Who in America in 2010, 2014, 2015, and 2016.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and Marquis Who's Who community, Marianne E. Felice, MD has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
