An emeritus professor of engineering in the department of electrical and computer engineering at Oakland University's School of Engineering and Computer Science in Rochester, MI, as well as the president of LBE Books since 2008, Dr. Haskell has dedicated the last near-decade of his career to writing several new books in microprocessors and digital design. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, and a PhD all from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute between the years of 1960 and 1963. His extensive background in the field has most recently included 46 years in the classroom, 40 of which were as a professor at Oakland University, until retiring from the classroom in 2012.
Dr. Haskell has also previously served as the director of research and development at Industrial Holographics, Inc., in Auburn Heights, MI, where he was responsible for the development of microprocessor-based industrial controllers and advanced product development. He also worked in government laboratories at the Air Force Cambridge Research Laboratories as well at the Johnson Spacecraft Center, and he has consulted with several industrial firms in the areas of optical inspection, microprocessors, embedded control systems, and pattern recognition.
During his years in engineering, some of Dr. Haskell's research has included plasma physics, holography and coherent optics, pattern recognition and image processing, computer learning, and microprocessor applications and embedded systems. He has authored more than 30 books in his field, including "Foundations of Plasma Dynamics," his very first book, which was published in 1965. In addition to his established research, he holds six patents. A member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Sigma Xi, and Tau Beta Pi, Dr. Haskell has also served as treasurer of the Haskell Family Association and publication editor for the Haskell Journal.

Since retirement, Dr. Haskell has published three additional books. The first, "Peggy's Discovery," is a novel based on many of the ideas he discussed in his last lecture. In the novel, the titular character discovers a 'theory of everything.' The technical details of everything in this novel are spelled out in the second book, "Understanding Special Relativity and Maxwell's Equations - With Implications for a Unified Field Theory." Finally, all of the mathematics needed to understand this second book can be found in the third book, "Vectors and Tensors By Example - Including Cartesian Tensors, Quaternions, and Matlab Examples."
Married since 1961 to Edith Louise Kohler, with whom he has had three children, Dr. Haskell served in the U.S. Air Force from 1963 to 1966, exiting the military as a first lieutenant.
Highlighted in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in the Midwest, he also received acclaim for a paper he wrote in 1967 in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, which was named One of the 10 Best Papers of the Year published in that particular journal.
