    SEATTLE, WA, November 21, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present John Jacob Zucker Gardiner, PhD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Gardiner celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Dr. Gardiner has been best known at Seattle University as a professor of leadership and department chair for the past 26 years. He previously taught at Oklahoma State University from 1979 to 1991. Some of his research interests over his near 40-year career in academia has included value-centered leadership, core values for leaders and organizations, emerging organizational forms, dialogue across race, gender, age, profession, class, and national lines, personal and organizational renewal, and servant and transcendent leadership. He has taught various seminars/workshops on a number of topics such as leadership theory and practice, organizational development and research, research design, quantitative research, qualitative research, and statistics.

At Seattle University's Center for Sustainability and Environmental Justice, Dr. Gardiner also recently served as a research fellow from 2015 to 2016. He served as a founding member of the university's president's committee on sustainability as well as on the steering committee of the Center for Sustainability and Environmental Justice.

Serving on various boards, including the board of the International Leadership Association (ILA) as well as its founding association, the Center for the Advanced Study of Leadership (CASL), at the University of Maryland at College Park, Dr. Gardiner chaired the ILA's 2002 global conference and later attended the ILA's annual meeting in Barcelona, Spain, in 2015, where he formed a World Institute for Leadership Development (W.I.L.D., LLC). He also served as a founding board member of the American Council of Education's National Leadership Group, was on the board of directors for the American Educational Research Association's division J, and was a reviewer for the National Science Foundation, Johns Hopkins University Press, and Jossey-Bass Publishers.
Dr. Gardiner has also served on the board of the Association for the Study of Higher Education and chaired the ASHE/AERA 1984 global conference in San Francisco, CA. In addition to his work with leaders and organizations throughout the United States, his international service has also included invited keynote addresses, presentations, and workshops in Australia, Canada, China, Czech Republic, England, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Japan, The Netherlands, and Russia.

Dr. Gardiner served on the editorial board for Leadership Review and co-authored/authored several books, including ASHE's Higher Education Resources Handbook in 1982, "UNESCO Educational Guide" in 1991, "Insights on Leadership" in 1998, and "Building Leadership Bridges" in 2003. Serving his community, he spent two years as his local Rotary's district governor in the Puget Sound area. That year, his Rotary district led the USA in membership growth and giving to The Rotary Foundation. He then served as an annual program fund strategic adviser for Western USA/Canada for another three years, represented Washington on the advisory board for zones 25 and 26 for Western USA and Canada.

After the completion of his Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, Political Science, and Philosophy a PhD in Leadership at the University of Florida, and awarded a W.K. Kellog Foundation Fellowship, Dr. Gardiner did additional studies, completing postgraduate work at the University of Oregon, Stanford University, and Harvard University. Funded by a CASL grant, Dr. Gardiner helped develop a leadership center for Russia, he has also been highlighted in more than 35 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, and Who's Who in the West.
