Seiji Kojima Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

The son of Shoji and Akiko Kojima, Dr. Kojima was born on April 22, 1951 in Tokyo, Japan. In November 1984, he married Toshiko Iiyama. Together, the couple raised their child--Takahiko.

Dr. Kojima studied at the University of Tokyo, receiving a BS in 1974 and a DSc in 1979. Following his graduation, he became a research associate at the University of Tsukuba. Dr. Kojima was promoted to the position of assistant professor in 1981, associate professor in 1994, and then served as professor from 2002 to 2017. From 2011 to 2015, he had worked as the chair of the Institute of Material Sciences at the University of Tsukuba. Since 2017, he is professor emeritus at the University of Tsukuba.

Throughout his career, Dr. Kojima has been a member of editorial boards for these magazines--Journal of Spectroscopy Society Japan, Journal of Physical Society Japan, Japan Journal of Applied Physics, Ferroelectrics, and Current Applied Physics. He was the chairman of the organizing committee of the 8th Russia/CIS/Baltic/Japan Symposium on Ferroelectricity held in 2006, and the 35th Ultrasonic Electronics Symposium held in 2014. He also has contributed articles to various professional journals.

As an esteemed physicist and educator, Dr. Kojima is a member of various related organizations, including the Optical Society of Japan, IEEE, Chemical Society of Japan, Laser Society of Japan, Japan Society of Analytical Chemistry, American Ceramics Society, and American Physical Society. From 1999 to 2000, Dr. Kojima has worked as a secretary of the Japan Society of Calorimetric and Thermal Analysis. As a member of the Physical Society of Japan, he was a chairman of several committees in 2006, 2008, and 2010. In 2008, Dr. Kojima received a JJAP Editorial Contribution award from the Japan Society of Applied Physics, as well as a Golden Order of Merit from the Japan Red Cross Society.

Dr. Kojima was a fellow of JSPS between 1979 and 1980. He is a grantee of MEXT Exploratory Research, as well as of MEXT Science Research from 2004 to 2020. Dr. Kojima has appeared in various Marquis Who's Who publications, including the 1st and 2nd editions of Who's Who in Asia. He has been featured in the 6th and 8th through 10th editions of Who's Who in Science and Engineering, as well as the 16th through 25th and 30th through 32nd editions of Who's Who in the World.
