James Henry "Hank" Drought Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Mr. Drought is a healthcare business owner, exercise physiologist, personal trainer, and writer. He is one of the "founding fathers" of personal training, with over 40 years of experience as a trainer and consultant for improving health, strength, conditioning, and speed in the U.S. and Europe since 1977. Mr. Drought was awarded 2000 Personal Trainer of the Year by the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), and selected as one of the 100 Best Trainers in America by Men's Journal magazine in 2004. He was voted 2010 Best of New Haven for Personal Training in a reader's poll from CTNOW, formerly the New Haven Advocate. Mr. Drought has been a member of the board of directors for the NSCA from 1998 to 2001 and a health promotion manager for the city of Boston from 1986 to 1987. In 1980 he was a member of the Lake Placid Olympic Organizing Committee for the XIII Winter Olympic Games. Mr. Drought is the present owner of, and former owner of, Personal Trainers Strength and Conditioning Consulting, and Personal Trainers. He has been a consultant for the city of Boston, the state of Massachusetts, major corporations, health clubs, amateur and professional athletes, models, actors, and general public exercisers of all ages and levels. He is a former C.O.R.P.S. member consultant for Reebok International, Ltd., a former articles consultant for SHAPE and Men's Health magazines, and a former "Ask the Experts" columnist for the Boston Globe newspaper. Notable speaking engagements include the 1995 and 1996 events "New England Strength & Conditioning Clinic" in Boston, with Johnny Parker of the New England Patriots, Mike Boyle of the Boston Bruins, U.S. Weightlifting Federation (now USA Weightlifting) Coach Denis Reno, and Wayne Westcott, PhD. Mr. Drought has also spoken twice at the NSCA New York State Clinic at the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Mr. Drought has made substantial contributions to the fitness and personal training industries, especially with the NSCA. He contributed a chapter for "NSCA's Essentials of Personal Training" in 2004, served on the board of directors from 1998 to 2001, and was a NSCA national conference speaker and certification commission speaker. He has also contributed to the NSCA's National Strength & Conditioning Foundation, which Mr. Drought helped develop in 1989 and was later incorporated into the NSCA in 1993. He was a member of the NSCA exam development committee that developed its first personal trainer certification in 1994. Mr. Drought was honored with a 2000 NSCA Personal Trainer of the Year Award, a 1995 NSCA State Director's Award, a 1993 NSCA Certification Commission Appreciation Award, and a 1993 NSCA Challenge Scholarship Award. He has also been an international sports leader as an executive committee member for the Boston vs. Montreal Fitness Challenge in 1989, and worked with the Intergovernmental Committee for European Migration and the exclusive Delacroixriche Fitness Club in the NOGA Hilton International Hotel, both in Geneva, Switzerland in 1980 and 1981. He was a Division 1 intercollegiate football and baseball player, an international rugby player in Europe, a Boston Marathon finisher, and a T'ai Chi Ch'uan practitioner since 1985 and former student of Tai Chi Grand Master Gin Soon Chu, of the 5th generation Yang Style.

Mr. Drought has been involved in various creative works as an author, producer, director, and actor. He owned Rainmaker Productions and Starlight Productions in the '80s, which developed audio-plays like "The Wedding" and "Sonny Davis Televised". Mr. Drought is also the author of such screenplays as "So Long Chicago" in 1983, and "Writer in Exile" in 1999, as well as the play "Traveling with Hemingway and Fitzgerald" in 1991 and the short story "On Meeting John Huston: A Personal Reminiscence" in 1998. He is the author of the novella "The Picadors" in 1996, and he has written several poetry and quote anthologies.

Drought holds an MS in clinical exercise physiology from Northeastern University in Boston, and a BS in physical education from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey and the United States Military Academy at West Point. He has earned professional certifications from the NSCA, the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Council on Exercise, and USA Weightlifting. Mr. Drought was selected for inclusion since 1995 in numerous volumes of Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine & Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in the East, spanning over 20 years.
