Maurice Myron Charney, PhD, Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

After accruing nearly 55 years of practiced academic experience, Dr. Charney retired from his role as a distinguished professor of English at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, where he began in 1956. Throughout the course of his career, he has also worked as an instructor at Hunter College, and on the board of directors of the Shakespeare Globe Center. At the pinnacle of his teenage years, he discovered the works of Shakespeare and pursued excellence in the field thereafter.

An alumnus of the prestigious Harvard University and Princeton University, Dr. Charney holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Arts, and a PhD. In order to remain alert of changes in the field, he is affiliated with the Modern Language Association, the International Society for Humor Studies, and the Shakespeare Association of America. Beginning in the early 1960s, he has authored a variety works on Shakespeare, including "Shakespeare's Roman Plays," "Style in Hamlet," "How to Read Shakespeare," "Comedy High and Low," "Sexual Fiction," "Hamlet's Fictions," and "All of Shakespeare." Nearly all of his publications can be found on Notably, he has been recognized numerous times for his professional accomplishments, having been named to two volumes of Who's Who in Entertainment. Looking toward the future, Dr. Charney intends to continue writing about the works of the world's most prominent bard.
