Robert M. Maxon Celebrates an Astounding 55 Years of Professional Excellence in Academia

Dr. Maxon won a Lifetime Achievement Award for his work through the Kenya Scholars and Studies Association



Currently, he is a faculty research associate at the West Virginia University's Regional Research Institute

    MORGANTOWN, WV, December 12, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Robert Maxon has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. For more than 55 years, Dr. Maxon has excelled in the field of academia. Currently, he is a faculty research associate at the West Virginia University's Regional Research Institute, a role he has held since the early 1980s. He is employed with the history department of West Virigina University, as well. At the start of his career, he served as an education officer for the Republic of Kenya before becoming an academic, lending his services to such institutions as the State University of New York at Oswego, West Virginia University and Moi University through several chair, visiting scholar and directing roles. Dr. Maxon considers the honorary doctorate he received in 2010 from the Moi University in Kenya to be the most prestigious honor of his career.

A graduate of the prestigious Duke University and Syracuse University, Dr. Maxon holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and a PhD in History. His professional affiliations include the African Studies Association, the Historical Association of Kenya, and the Kenya Scholars & Studies Association, all of which he maintains a connection in order to remain active and engaged among professional circles. Throughout his career, he has contributed his knowledge to articles such as "Kenya's Independence Constitution: Constitution-Making and the End of Empire," the "Struggle for Kenya: the Loss and Reassertion of Imperial Initiative," and "Conflict and Accommodation in Western Kenya: the Gusii and the British, 1907-1963."

Due to his expertise in the field, Dr. Maxon has been awarded many times for his professional accomplishments. In addition to earning scholarships for his outstanding work, he won the Lifetime Achievement Award through the Kenya Scholars and Studies Association in 2009. In the coming years, Dr. Maxon intends to expand upon his research in African studies, and experience the upward trajectory of his career.
