Fully committed to her career for 46 years, Dr. Johnson first taught in Chicago at the Harvard School for Boys in 1960. A rewarding opportunity, she then worked for two other public school systems as a mathematics teacher in both Missouri and Ohio. By 1966, she had landed her first role in higher education, teaching college students as a mathematics instructor at the University of Wisconsin.

Relocating to Orlando, FL, six years later, Dr. Johnson became a teacher of mathematics, later working as both a research graduate assistant and instructor back at the University of Wisconsin while pursuing her PhD. Commencing her career employed with the Seminole County School Board in Sanford, FL, she spent the last 24 years there until retirement. Dr. Johnson was a visiting associate professor for a year at Stetson University in Orlando, and was active as a speaker in her field, teacher trainer, test grader for the Education Testing Service, and, most importantly, a mentor to others.

Dr. Johnson authored many articles in professional journals and spent years as an active member of several professional organizations, including the National Education Association, the Seminole County Education Association, the Seminole County Mathematics Council, and the Florida Mathematics Council. A certified secondary mathematics educator and certified elementary teacher, Dr. Johnson completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Chicago, postgraduate work at The Ohio State University, Master's degree at the University of Central Florida, and PhD at the University of Wisconsin.

Her years of dedication to the field of education earned Dr. Johnson several awards throughout her tenure, including being named Mathematics Teacher of the Year from 1990 to 2000. She also received several grants from the National Science Foundation, in addition to her status as a fellow of the organization. Furthermore, she has been highlighted in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of American Women.

Married to Orville Johnson III since 1978, Dr. Johnson currently resides in Longwood, FL. She has sat on the board of directors of Crown Oaks Springs Community Association since 1974. She also ran for legislature in Wisconsin in Stevens Point and served as chairman of the Republican Party in that area as well. She loves art, music, and writing.
