Marquis Who's Who Celebrates Lee Simon for Contributions to the Health Care Industry

Dr. Simon is renowned in his field for his role in pharmaceutical research and development



    WEST NEWTON, MA, December 13, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Lee Simon has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Simon is the co-managing director of SDG, LLC, a firm whose role is to design strategies with pharmaceutical and device development companies to develop evidence of efficacy and safety to lead to regulatory approvals for commercial use. Over the course of his career consulting with the pharmaceutical industry, he has worked in both academic and regulatory capacities regarding pharmaceutical research and development. With an expertise in Federal Drug Administration guidelines, he has been in current role since 2006. From 2006 until 2012, he also acted as a consultant and member of the board of directors of Savient Pharmaceuticals and as a consultant to Leerink Swann from 2004 to 2010. He has also served the FDA as the division director of the Analgesic, Anti-Inflammatory and Ophthalmologic Drug Products from 2001 to 2003. He began his career as a staff member of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in 1981, serving the center for 20 years.

Outside of his career in pharmaceutical development, Dr. Simon has acted as the director of Graduate Medical Education and the Rheumatology Clinical Research at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He also served the medical center as associate chief of medicine for external affairs. In addition, he was civically engaged with Omeract from 1999 to 2017, serving as a member of the executive and finance committees. He has served as a consultant for the Osteoarthritis Research Society International and the Lupus Research Alliance as well.

Dr. Simon graduated with a Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Maryland Medical School in 1976. He served as an intern and assistant resident in medicine at the Osler Medical Service at Johns Hopkins Hospital from 1976 to 1978, and subsequently as a clinical and research fellow at the Medical Service (Arthritis Unit) Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School from 1978 to 1981. He is a member of the American College of Rheumatology, and for his outstanding contributions to medical science, he was commended with the 2003 Scientific Leadership Award by the Lupus Research Institute. He was also recognized with the Service Award of the American College of Rheumatology in 2003.
