Now retired, Ms. Wilson spent more than 50 years in nursing. Departing the field as a learning enhancement coordinator in the department of nursing at Southwest Tennessee Community College in Memphis, TN, she was involved in numerous facets of her career, including tutoring students in different levels of nursing, teaching courses such as Critical Skills Laboratory and Emerging Nurses, repairing mannequins used for class, ordering supplies, and supervising health fairs. She spent a total of eight years at the college.
An expert in wound care, Ms. Wilson earned her wound care certification after completing her degrees. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Management with a concentration in Nursing from Southern Nazarene University. A former member of the American Burn Association and the Order of the Eastern Star, she was recognized numerous times for her work. Ms. Wilson was also named Nurse of the Year in 2003 by the Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center and won a 2003 Methodist Star. She has published numerous works in professional publications within her field of expertise.
In her community, Ms. Wilson has been active with the 4-H Club, where she was named Number One in Showmanship for Beef Cattle and received a Best Beef Clubber. She loves to work in her garden, sew, and do needlework.
