Adjunct professor in the department of mathematics at The George Washington University since 2013, Dr. Jerome previously spent 42 years teaching at Northwestern University. He also taught and lectured at Case Western Reserve University and the University of Wisconsin as an assistant professor of mathematics, beginning in 1966.
Dr. Jerome studied at St. Joseph's University, earning a BS in Physics in 1961. He then completed a Master's degree and PhD at Purdue University in 1963 and 1966, respectively. He has taught and lectured as a visiting professor at numerous institutions, including Yale University, The University of Texas at Austin, the University of Minnesota, the University of Chicago, and New York University's Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, and was a visiting scientist at Bell Laboratories, visiting scholar at the University of Chicago, and visiting fellow at the University Oxford in England. He has also been involved as both an organizer and lecturer for many university conferences throughout his career.
Authoring and co-authoring nearly 150 articles in professional journals, Dr. Jerome was an associate editor for the Journal of Computational Electronics for 13 years, an associate editor for the Journal of Nonlinear Analysis for nine years, and a reviewer and co-reviewer for several publications. A longtime member of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics and the American Mathematics Society, Dr. Jerome served on the advisory committee for the International Workshops on Computational Electronics from 1990 to 2015, and was a consultant for various advisory panels for the National Research Council and for Bell Laboratories.
In 2005, Dr. Jerome received a research grant from the Office of Naval Research and has received numerous research grants from the National Science Foundation since 1970. Receiving a Distinguished Alumnus Award by Purdue University in 1996, he has been cited in dozens of editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in the Midwest. Married since 1999 to Sara Tobin, Dr. Jerome enjoys reading in his down time.
