DAEJEON, REPUBLIC OF KOREA, January 18, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Yong Woong Lee has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. With more than 30 years of professional experience, Dr. Lee has served as the director of the Fifth Directorate of the Third Research and Development Institute of Agency for Defense Development since 1987. Inspired to enter the field to contribute to the national defense of the Republic of Korea as a scientist, the highlight of his career was the development of the ground segment of the earth observation satellite. He has also been dedicated to the establishment of the procedure for image intelligence (IMINT) and geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) using aerial and satellite imagery.
Dr. Lee began his career as a student at Chonnam National University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering in 1981, and a Master of Science in mechanical engineering in 1983. He is a certified professional engineer in surveying and geospatial information. He later returned to his studies to earn a PhD in civil engineering with Yonsei University in 2001.
A respected voice in the field, Dr. Lee is affiliated with a number of professional organizations, including the Korea Institute of Military Science and Technology, the Korean Society of Remote Sensing and the Korean Society of Surveying, Geodesy, Photogrammetry and Cartography. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for his contributions, having earned several awards from the Ministry of National Defense.
