The principal of William P. Boswell, LLC, since 2004, Mr. Boswell has been serving his industry for over 40 years. Prior to his current position, Mr. Boswell was a partner at McGuireWoods, LLP, from 2000 to 2004, deputy general counsel of Consolidated Natural Gas Company from 1999 to 2000, and vice president, general counsel, corporate secretary, and assistant secretary of Peoples Natural Gas Company between the years 1978 and 1999.

First receiving a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from Catholic University in 1968, Mr. Boswell subsequently earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Virginia in 1971. Thereafter, he received an LLD honoris causa from The Collegium Augustinianum in 2013. Mr. Boswell was admitted to the practice of law in Virginia in 1971, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia in 1971, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces in 1972, the Supreme Court of the United States in 1975, and Pennsylvania in 1978.

Alongside his legal appointments, Mr. Boswell has been the vice chancellor and a professor of jurisprudence at the Graduate School of Philosophy and Theology at Collegium Augustinianum since 2012. In addition, he was named mayor emeritus of Glen Osborne, PA, having served as mayor from 1998 to 2014, and on Council from 1983 to 1997; president of the board of directors of the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh, PA, from 1992 to 1996; and was secretary and a trustee of the Laughlin Foundation from 1995 to 2010. Mr. Boswell previously served on active duty in the United States Air Force from 1971 to 1978, and was a colonel in the Air Force Reserve from 1978 to 1998, at which point he retired from the military.

As a respected voice in his field, Mr. Boswell is a member of the American Bar Association, where he was chair of its gas committee from 1995 to 2003, and chair of the infrastructure security committee from 2003 to 2006. In 2017 he was elected a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. He was also chair of the regulatory committee of the American Gas Association from 1996 to 1998, chair of the Pennsylvania Gas Association from 1989 to 1990, and president of the Pennsylvania chapter of the American Corporate Counsel Association from 1991 to 1992. He served as chairman of the North American Energy Standards Board from 2001 to 2003.

Throughout his career, Mr. Boswell has been recognized for his achievements with a variety of accolades and awards. He was first honored with the Excellence in Corporate Practice Award in 1998. Subsequently, he was the recipient of the Pennsylvania Civil Meritorious Service Medal in 2008, and was named Outstanding Non-Profit Counsel of the Year by the American Bar Association in 2013. During his time in the military, Mr. Boswell was awarded the Legion of Merit and several other personal decorations for his outstanding services.

Married to Barbara Schroeder since 1969, Mr. Boswell has three children and nine grandchildren. As he looks toward the future, Mr. Boswell hopes to continue making strides in the field of law.
