In addition, he serves as an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Department of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY and as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Medicine at State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate School of Medicine in Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Huang also finds time to serve as a guest professor at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University, Quanzhou City, Fujian Province, China.
Dr. Huang received a Bachelor of Medicine (the equivalent of a MD in the United States) in 1984 from Fujian Medical University, China, and a Doctor of Medicine in Cancer Immunology (the equivalent of a Ph.D. in the United States) in 1989 from the Graduate School of Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) and the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS), Beijing, China. He then completed an Internal Medicine Residency at Staten Island University Hospital, Staten Island, NY and a Hematology-Oncology Fellowship at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, New Brunswick, NJ.
Dr. Huang previously taught at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, was a resident physician at Staten Island University Hospital, an instructor at the University of Texas (UT) Southwestern Medical School, and a resident physician/Ph.D. student in cancer immunology/gastroenterology/internal medicine at Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Peking Union Medical College and the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences.
Licensed to practice in New York and New Jersey, Dr. Huang is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology. His professional affiliations include the American Society of Hematology, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. He has been a frequent lecturer and appeared on BBC to discuss a new treatment for cancer, new advances for breast cancer, new advances for colon cancer, and a new treatment for lung cancer. He has served as site principal investigator for more than 30 international, national cooperative group studies and pharmaceutical company sponsored studies at Maimonides Cancer Center. His research interests include new therapeutic approaches for gastrointestinal malignancies, brain tumors, lung cancers, hematologic malignancies and immunotherapy. He has published books and book chapters on subjects such as home care during chemotherapy and "Subcutaneous Panniculitis-like T cell lymphoma. Cutaneous Lymphoma, Diagnosis and treatment." His articles and peer-reviewed research have appeared in professional journals. He serves on the editorial board of Annals of Carcinogenesis, Austin Hematology, and Austin Medical Sciences.
Dr. Huang has been recognized on many occasions for his professional accomplishments. In addition to be named "Doctor of the Year" by Maimonides Cancer Center in 2010, and Outstanding Alumni by the American Association of Fujian Medical University Alumni in 2006. In October 2014, he received the Excellence in Community Service Award from the Chinese American Planning Council of New York. Since 2004, Dr. Huang has been vice president of the American Association of Fujian Medical University Alumni. In 2000, Dr. Huang captured first place in the American College of Physicians-American Society of Internal Medicine's Associates Abstract Competition in the Clinical Vignette Division (New York Chapter). That same year, he was a finalist in ACP-ASIM's Associates Research Competition for two abstracts. While at Staten Island University Hospital, he received the Resident Physician Dedicated to Research Award, second place in the Resident Research Competition, first place in the Resident Case Report Competition, and the Research Achievement Award. Dr. Huang also received the AVENTIS Internal Medicine Scholarship at the annual meeting of ACP-ASIM Philadelphia in 2000. Dr. Huang has been featured in numerous volumes of Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World.
