Dr. Kim is an accomplished scientist and researcher whose interests include industrializing plants for a variety of uses, the bioconversion of functional compounds, and the bioproduction and application of rare sugars from enzymes. Currently a policy manager in the plant resource industry division of the Baekdudaegan National Arboretum, he previously served as a senior researcher for the Freshwater Bioresources Utilization Bureau of the Nakdonggang National Institute of Biological Resources. From 2013 to 2015, Dr. Kim was a researcher for the International Ginseng and Herb Research Institute.
A highly published author, Dr. Kim has contributed numerous articles to industry publications, such as Enzyme and Microbial Technology, Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, and the Journal of Biological Chemistry. In recognition of his work as a researcher and scientist, he received a Commendation from the Ministry of Environment in May 2017.
Dr. Kim earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in applied microbiology from Yeungnam University in 2002 and 2004, respectively. He also holds a Ph.D. in bioscience and biotechnology from Konkuk University, earned in 2010.
