Dr. Osakwe has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the law industry

NEW ORLEANS, LA, February 15, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Christopher Osakwe, Ph.D., with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Osakwe celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ever since he was in high school, Dr. Osakwe wanted to follow in his father's footsteps and become a lawyer. He worked hard to achieve his goal, earning an LLB, summa sum laude, and a Ph.D. from Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1967 and 1970, respectively, and a JSD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1974. He furthered his education as a Carnegie fellow at the Hague Academy of International Law, a Russian research fellow at Harvard University, a USSR senior research exchange fellow, and a research fellow at the Kennan Institute for Advanced Russian Studies. He joined prominent professional organizations such as the Societe de Legislation Comparee, American Law Institute, Supreme Court Historical Society, American Society of International Law and the Order of the Coif, and is admitted to the Kazakhstan Bar Association, American Bar Association and Moscow Bar Association.

Backed by years of experience and a strong reputation as a legal scholar and law practitioner, Dr. Osakwe is thriving. He has been a partner of Riddle and Brown since 1989, and is focusing his private law practice on helping American and other Western companies do business in Russia, particularly on navigating the minefields of Russian commercial and regulatory laws. He feels equally at home in both American and Russian law school classrooms, and, over the past 45 years, has taught several generations of law students at top law schools in the United States and Russia. He is fluent in the Russian language and teaches all his classes in Moscow in Russian.
Some of Dr. Osakwe's notable positions include professor in the School of Law at Tulane University, visiting professor at the University of Pennsylvania, visiting professor at the University of Michigan, visiting fellow at St. Anthony's College, Oxford University, and visiting professor at Lomonosov Moscow State University. He is particularly proud of his appointment as the founding director of the Eason-Weinmann Center for Comparative Law at Tulane University School of Law and his follow-up appointment as the Eason-Weinmann Professor of Comparative Law.

As evidence of his deep roots in the legal cultures of the United States and Russia, Dr. Osakwe's scholarly works are published both in the United States and Russia. The overarching mission of his publications in Russia is to explain the intricacies of American law to Russian readers. Conversely, the mission of his publications in the United States is to unravel the mysteries of Russian law to American readers. He serves on the editorial boards of leading Russian and United States law journals, including the Journal of Foreign Legislation and Comparative Law. Dr. Osakwe has also authored publications, including, "The Participation of the Soviet Union in Universal International Organizations," "The Foundations of Soviet Law," "Comparative Legal Traditions in a Nutshell," "Comparative Legal Traditions: Text, Materials and Cases," "Moral Harm in Anglo-American Law: Concept, Classification and Compensation" and "Comparative Law: Diagrammatic Commentary," as well as a variety of others.

Dr. Osakwe's hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed. He was featured in numerous volumes of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
