An accomplished listee, Mr. Stein celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. A retired prosecuting attorney, Mr. Stein spent the first 15 years of his career in various roles, beginning as the assistant district attorney in New York between 1962 and 1967. He then took on the role of senior counsel for the National Commission for Reform of Federal Criminal Law in Washington, D.C., was assistant district attorney and chief of appeals for the City of Philadelphia, the assistant director of the National Wire Tapping Commission in Washington, D.C., and special assistant for HUD, also in Washington, D.C.

By 1979, Mr. Stein earned the opportunity to work for the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission in Washington, D.C., as an assistant general counsel, which led to his getting involved in the financial regulation area. Four years later, he had become the vice president of the New York Futures Exchange, followed by serving as the vice president and regulator of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) for another 16 years between 1989 and 2005, when he retired from the Exchange.

Over the next two years, Mr. Stein worked for the FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) as an arbitrator. FINRA, a non-profit organization authorized by Congress to protect America's investors by making sure the broker-dealer industry operates fairly and honestly, is dedicated to investor protection and market integrity through effective and efficient regulation of broker-dealers. In 2006, Mr. Stein also began serving as a member of the conduct committee for COMEX, MYMEX, which he continues to do today. The primary market for trading metals such as gold, silver, copper and aluminum, COMEX, formerly known as the Commodity Exchange Inc., merged with the New York Mercantile exchange in 1994 and became the division responsible for metals trading.

Mr. Stein was responsible for making several substantial precedents and decisions on the NYSE regarding fiduciary obligations of stockbrokers.

Born in New York City, Mr. Stein was born into poverty but was able to earn scholarships to attend college and live the American dream. Accepted to Columbia University, he earned both a BA and LLB in 1958 and 1961, respectively. He was then admitted to the New York Bar Association in 1962, the Pennsylvania Bar Association in 1971, and the Supreme Court of the United States in 1971. Married to his wife Jacqueline Martin since 1962, he also has two daughters. When he isn't busy, Mr. Stein enjoys reading American history books.
