He is recognized in the technology industry for his developments in video enhancement technology for television, and he recently completed some work in the research and development of 3D video processing technology. He is recognized for the development of video enhancement algorithms utilized by Samsung's DTV; this technology has contributed, in part, to making Samsung the best in television business. He also developed environmental adaptive image processing algorithms for power reduction on Samsung mobile displays and a fingerprint recognition algorithm now used in several Samsung smart phones.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Park was recognized with a number of awards for his contributions to the industry. His research was commended with awards from the International Conference on Consumer Electronics in 2012, International Meeting on Information Display in 2011, and by SIDTech in 2010. Samsung also honored him with the Breakthrough Award in 1993, 1995, 2002, 2005, 2010, and 2011, an honorary doctorate award in 2010, a Special Award for Contribution to Business in 2007, SAITian of the Year in 2005, the Samsung Chairman's Technology Award in 2001, 2003, and 2006, a Patent Champion Award of the Year in 2000 and 2001, and as a Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology Master in 2007. The Ministry of Knowledge Economy of Korea honored Mr. Park with the Order of Industrial Service Merit, Silver Tower in 2008. The husband of Dokyoung Kim, he has two children, Hyunjin Park and Jihwan Park. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, watching movies, golfing and climbing.
