At the start of his career, he joined Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a research fellow. Additionally, he has lent his expertise to Brookhaven National Laboratory and the University of Maryland, College Park.
An alumnus of the Georgia Institute of Technology, Dr. Lynn holds a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and a Ph.D. in the field. His professional affiliations include the American Physical Society, the American Chemical Society, the Neutron Scattering Society of America and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. During his career, he has published over 600 scientific articles, has edited a research book called "High Temperature Superconductivity," and has won the Stratton Award in 2005 and 2013. For his excellence in the field, he has been awarded numerous times, earning the Sustained Research Award through the Neutron Scattering Society of America, the Distinguished Award of Presidential Rank from President Obama, and multiple grants through the National Science Foundation. In the near future, Dr. Lynn intends to experience the continued success of his career.
