Dr. Hijjawi serves as a Hospitalist, Physician Advisor and the Lead Informaticist at CaroMont Health in Gastonia, NC, with expertise in internal medicine, hospital medicine, healthcare quality and management, clinical research and informatics. He is board certified and a diplomate with the American Board of Internal Medicine as well as holds a medical license in the State of North Carolina. He was elected by the American College of Physicians for honorary fellowship in 2016 to recognize his accomplishments, excellence and contributions made to both medicine and the community in which he lives and practices.
Dr. Hijjawi was born in Nablus, Palestine. He attended Jordan University of Science and Technology Medical School in Irbid, Jordan, obtaining an M.B, B.S (MD equivalent) in 2007. He then completed a residency at the King Hussein Cancer Center in Amman, Jordan before traveling to the United States for a residency with the University of Texas Medical Branch Hospitals in Galveston, Texas. He has contributed to several articles and publications in peer-reviewed medical journals. His research involved topics such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, venous thromboembolism and other clinical cancer research. He is a member of many national and international medical associations including the American Medical Association, the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians, the American Association for Physician Leadership and the Society of Hospital Medicine. Dr. Hijjawi will be eligible in May 2018 for a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) with medical concentration from Isenberg School of Management, University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
