Angela Nicols Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

With nearly 40 years of experience in the field, Ms. Nicols most recently served as the owner of Nicols Consultant, a computer consultancy and training company, from 1995 to 2015, and with the Apopka Historical Society, serving in several roles between 1994 and 2015, including as chair of the Preservation Advisory Council, chair of technology and grants, curator, vice president, and president. Prior to these roles, Ms. Nicols was a supervisor and project leader of Book Clubs Information Systems with Doubleday and Co. from 1979 to 1987, and a manager of software engineering at Martin Marietta Information Systems in Orlando, FL, from 1987 to 1994. In addition to her primary positions, Ms. Nicols served as a volunteer with the Apopka High School Advisory Council from 1994 to 1997, and as a secretary with the Board of Education of Bishop Moore High School in Orlando from 1995 to 1998.

In preparation for her career, Ms. Nicols earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from Hofstra University in 1979, followed by a Master of Science in mathematics and computer science from Adelphi University in 1985. Alongside her professional endeavors, Ms. Nicols has been active in her community as a member of the St. Francis Disabilities Committee, the Pastoral Council of the St. Francis of Assisi Church, and the Social Action Commission.

A respected voice in the industry, Ms. Nicols has found much success in the realm of publication. In 2009, she authored the book "Tangerine's Historic Buildings," and she contributed to the Northwest Orange County Register of Historic Places in 2010, and Zellwood's Historic Buildings in 2014. She is a member with the IEEE, the Mathematics Association of America, the American Mathematics Society, the Council of Catholic Women, the Errol Estates Country Club, and the Golfside Village Homeowners Association.

In recognition of her achievements, Ms. Nicols has been awarded numerous accolades throughout her career. Most recently, she was recognized by the City of Apopka with May 2, 2015 named in her honor as "Angela Nicols Day." In addition, she was the recipient of the Restoration/Rehabilitation Award, the Statewide Preservation Award, and the Judah P. Benjamin Award. She received the Martin Marietta Recognition Award in both 1991 and 1989, and she is a member of Kappa Mu Epsilon. She has been highlighted in multiple editions of Marquis Who's Who, including Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of American Women.
