His expertise in mechanical and procurement engineering has helped lead the company in becoming one of the premier shipbuilding and offshore contractors in the world.
Mr. Seo studied with Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in metallurgical engineering. Influenced heavily by his father, who had escaped from a military camp during World War II under Japanese Occupation, Mr. Seo attributes his success to hard work.
Throughout his career, Mr. Seo has been recognized for his achievements in the field. He is recognized as having been instrumental in securing 50 billion dollars in orders from the oil and gas industry, for opening up 14 billion dollar markets in West Africa and Angola, and for opening up the 5 billion dollar Brazilian market. In addition, he helped to develop a 6th generation deepwater drillship and semisubmersible rig, leading to the construction of 29 drillships and 13 semisubmersibles amounting to 22 billion dollars in orders.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Mr. Seo enjoys participating in a book club called "Unshaken Generation," and he loves to travel. Married to Young Sook Kang, Mr. Seo is the father of Ji Seok and Ji Won.
