Robert Michael Aurbach Honored by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence as a Legal Executive, Lawyer and Consultant

Mr. Aurbach has successfully managed people, budgets and operations in diverse enterprises, including solo consulting businesses, small "captive" law firms and free standing governmental agencies



    WILLIAMSTOWN NORTH, AUSTRALIA, April 05, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Robert Michael Aurbach has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With four decades of experience under his belt, Mr. Aurbach currently serves as President/CEO of Uncommon Approach and principal independent consultant to governmental and private clients including ARTD Consulting in the evaluation of the Comcare Outsourcing Pilot Project. He recently completed the second engagement with the Department of Veteran's Affairs to assist in the implementation of their psychosocial rehabilitation efforts. Mr. Aurbach conducted innovative stakeholder consultations during this project, leading to substantial improvements in cooperation and coordination amongst rehabilitation providers, DVA rehabilitation delegates and DVA clients. He also assisted WorkCover New South Wales (now the State Insurance Regulatory Authority) in the development of a new regulatory framework for the workers' compensation regulator. He also developed a new functional understanding of disability and resilience that has attracted Australian and international interest and presented the project in over 30 Australian and international presentations and publications. He is proud of the work he did when he contracted with Comcare concerning the reshaping of its claims management operations and creation of new tools and functionalities to reduce its long term liability exposures. It contributed to a significant reshaping of the injury management environment across the Australian federal service.

Mr. Aurbach previously served as national project manager of WCD Workers' Compensation Solutions where he created a plan for a major banking client with regard to workers' compensation coverage for ex-patriot employees in 15 separate countries, consistent with corporate policy and local statutory and regulatory requirements. As director of the Industry Engagement Centre for Personal Injury, Deakin University, he created national stakeholder engagement series with sessions in all Australian capitals through which employer branding and core business were reinforced. A national report (published on the Deakin website) includes previously undisclosed national consensus items of importance to policy makers. As chief legal counsel to the New Mexico Workers' Compensation Administration, Mr. Aurbach rewrote the administrative rules for the agency, implementing reform legislation and resulting in reduction of costs that improved the state's relative premium cost rating from 10th highest to 10th lowest in the U.S. He has also been engaged as a consultant to assist numerous jurisdictions in reformation and improvement of their workers' compensation systems, including, the Navajo Nation, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Federal Long Shore and Harbor Workers Compensation System and the States of Delaware, California and Tennessee. He also drafted, reviewed, amended or gave evidence as an expert witness concerning over one thousand pieces of legislation pertaining to the workers' compensation scheme or statutory authority authorizing legislation.

Mr. Aurbach previously served as editor of the Journal of the International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions, a private attorney and senior associate of the Institute for Criminal Justice Studies, University of New Mexico, assistant district attorney and senior assistant district attorney of the 1st Judicial District, New Mexico, and associate attorney with Montgomery and Andrews, P.A.

An alumnus of such prestigious institutions as Boston University and Cornell University, Mr. Aurbach holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Psychology with Distinction in Psychology, a Juris Doctor and advanced certificates in management and in mediation. He was a visiting fellow at Curtin University in 2009.

Mr. Aurbach was admitted to the Supreme Court of New Mexico in 1979, U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico, in 1979, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit in 1979 and U.S. Supreme Court in 1984. He has been a member of Safe Work Australia's expert panel on Workers' Compensation, the National Academy of Social Insurance and the Comcare's Centre of Excellence in Mental Health and Wellbeing, Research Communities of Practice. He is a former member of the advisory board for Workers' Compensation Policy Review.

He has been recognized for his professional accomplishments with the Francis Perkins Award for Innovation in Workers' Compensation Design by the International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions, and the Taylor Fry Award for best paper presented to the 2015 Actuaries Institute Scheme Design conference. Mr. Aurbach was also honored with inclusion in the 26th edition of Who's Who in the West, and seven editions of Who's Who in American Law.
