Margaret Maie Wheltle Celebrates More than 25 Years of Excellence in Religious Education

    ELLICOTT CITY, MD, April 05, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Margaret Maie Wheltle, DM, JD, STM, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. A renowned figure in the field of religious education, Dr. Wheltle has more than 25 years of professional experience in her industry. Retired from her vocational endeavors since 1986, she was formerly chair of the religion department of Mount de Sales Academy from 1979 to 1985, and a lecturer in theology and trustee with the academy from 1978 to 1985. Earlier in her career, she served St. Agnes College in several capacities, including as assistant to the president, director of development, and television production coordinator. First delving into law prior to her involvement in religious education, she began her career as an associate with Harley Wheltle Victor & Rosser from 1959 to 1964. In addition to her primary roles, Dr. Wheltle was employed by St. Martin's Home for the Aged as a lecturer in 1975, by Harmony Hill School as an instructor, director of the theology department, and director of the business law department in 1969 and 1970, and a member of the Speaker's Bureau of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Birthright of Maryland, and Howard County Right to Life.

In preparation for her successful career, Dr. Wheltle sought out formal education. She first obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Mount St. Agnes College in 1956, subsequently earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Maryland in 1959. From 1960 to 1961, she completed postgraduate work at Loyola University of Maryland, and from 1967 to 1969, she completed postgraduate work at the Catholic University of America. She concluded her education with a Master of Sacred Theology from St. Mary's Seminary and University in 1972. A well-rounded figure, Dr. Wheltle spent the first portion of her career in the legal industry, becoming admitted to the Maryland State Bar Association shortly after receiving her Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1959. She subsequently was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States in 1969.

Passionate about giving back to her community, Dr. Wheltle has engaged in a number of civic duties, including as a member of the Jeanne Jugan Association with Little Sisters of the Poor from 2003 to 2005. Previously, she served as a member of the School Board and chair of the Development Committee for the Resurrection-St. Paul School from 2001 to 2004. In addition, she was the president and vice president of the Parish Council of St. Mark Parish from 1986 to 1988, and she was president of the National Alumnae of Mount St. Agnes College from 1961 to 1965.

A member of the Order of Malta, Dr. Wheltle has been honored with numerous accolades throughout her career. In 1982, she was the recipient of the Certificate of Appreciation from Mount de Sales Academy. In addition, she received the Certification of Appreciation from the Archdiocese of Baltimore in 1981. Furthermore, she has been an inductee into several Marquis Who's Who publications, including three editions of Who's Who in America, two editions of Who's Who in American Education, one edition of Who's Who in the East, and three editions of Who's Who of American Women.
