Byung Tae Ahn, Ph.D., Celebrates 30 Years of Practiced Industry Experience

Dr. Ahn has had his work recognized with first Global Photovoltaic Conference Award (GPVC Award) in 2017.



For many years, Dr. Ahn has served as a professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).

    DAEJEON, REPUBLIC OF KOREA, April 09, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Byung Tae Ahn, Ph.D., has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

For many years, Dr. Ahn has served as a professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). An expert in his field, Dr. Ahn holds a doctoral degree from Stanford University, which he earned in 1988. Over the years, he has contributed his knowledge to a plethora of articles, including "Increase in conversion efficiency of above 14% in Cu(In,Ga)3Se5 (β-CIGS) solar cells by Na2S incorporation through the surface of β–CIGS film ,' "Effects of the incorporation of alkali elements on Cu(In,Ga)Se2 thin film solar cells," and "Growth of a high-quality Zn(S,O,OH) thin film via chemical bath deposition for Cd‐free Cu(In,Ga)Se2 solar cells." He has had his work featured in professional publications such as Nature, Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells, Energy and Environmental Sciences, Progress in Photovoltaics, and Current Applied Physics, Journal of Korean Materials Research, and Current Photovoltaic Research.

He was one of the pioneers in the photovoltaic research in Korea with his Si solar cell fabrication in 1979 and with his achievement of 18% cell efficiency in CIGS thin-film solar cell in 2006 that led to the great expansion of photovoltaic activity in Korea. He served as the President of Korean Materials Research Society in 2010 and as a vice president of Korean Photovoltaic Society from 2013 to 2017. He also served the Photovoltaic Society with many titles, including the General Chair of the 25th International Photovoltaic Science and Engineering Conference in 2017 (PVSEC-25). Throughout his career, he has been recognized many times for his work in the field. Especially, he receive the first Global Photovoltaic Conference Award (GPVC Award) from the Korea Photovoltaic Society in 2017 in recognition of his promotion of the academic activity in Korean Photovoltaic Society and international collaboration with photovoltaic community throughout the world. In the coming years, Dr. Ahn intends to experience the continued growth and success of his career.
