Yongsang Lee Celebrated for Excellence in Education Research

Dr. Lee received an Education Achievement Award from the minister of Education, Science, and Technology

    SEOUL, REPUBLIC OF KOREA, April 10, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Yongsang Lee has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

An expert in the field of education research, Dr. Lee currently works as a researcher with the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation, having started with the organization as a research fellow in 2011. In addition, he served as the director of the Office of College Scholastic Ability Test Planning from 2014 to 2016, subsequently becoming the director of the Officer of Performance Evaluation. His research interests include item response modeling in educational measurement and the development of random item MIRID, Model with Internal Restrictions on Item Difficulty, which investigates the relationship between the cognitive or affective behavior and its components.

Dr. Lee began his career as a student at Yonsei University, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in education. He then joined Kia Motors, where he was responsible for program evaluation. He developed an interest in the topic, and traveled to the United States to study at the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a PhD. Crediting his success to the support of his family and his mentor, PhD supervisor Professor Mark Wilson, Dr. Lee enjoys applying his expertise in educational measurement and evaluation to CSAT and being involved in CSAT reform.

A respected voice in the industry, Dr. Lee is affiliated with numerous professional organizations, including the Korean Society for Educational Evaluation, where he also serves as a board member. He has also authored and coauthored papers and technical reports that have been featured in publications such as Applied Psychological Measurement, the Journal of Educational Evaluation, the Korean History Education Review, and the Journal of Educational Studies.

Throughout his career, Dr. Lee has been recognized many times for contributions. In 2012, he received an Education Achievement Award from the Minister of Education, Science and Technology. The following year, he earned an Outstanding Researcher Award through the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation. Looking toward the future, Dr. Lee intends to keep doing research on national exams such as CSAT, and he is currently working on an international project for standard setting and maintaining in national examinations in conjunction with Oxford University.
