As a principal attorney with Frontier Health Law, Ms. Mehdi is responsible for the exclusive representation of health care providers and entities in Nevada, and throughout the United States, as permitted by law. In this position, she draws upon experience in various practice areas, including health law, corporate law, business law, administrative law, employment law, intellectual property law, and other related areas. Since launching the firm as a principal attorney in 2016, she has represented physicians, dentists and other health care professionals, along with various health care and closely held businesses in connection with corporate, transnational, and health care matters. She takes great pride in counseling clients on fraud and abuse, health information technology (HIT) and compliance, including the Stark II physician self referral law, Medicare and Medicaid anti-kickback law, corporate practice and fee-splitting restrictions, antitrust, health information privacy and security (HIPAA and HITECH Act), and health care reimbursement.
Ms. Mehdi began her career in 2004 by receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Walsh College of Accountancy and Business Administration (Troy, MI) with honors. She went on to attend the University of Kansas, where she completed a Master of Health Administration with the School of Medicine, and a Juris Doctorate through the School of Law in 2010. Upon completing formal education, Ms. Mehdi helped to found the Hope Cancer Care of Nevada, in Las Vegas, NV, where she was a manager for four years. During this time, she also briefly served as a part-time faculty member for health law with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. As an associate attorney with Nutile Law, she drafted, reviewed and analyzed the full gambit of transactional relationships and disputes encountered by health care entities and providers. Prior to working as an associate attorney, Ms. Mehdi served as a judicial intern for the Hon. Judge Sturman at the Eighth Judicial District Court. In this position, she researched civil and probate law, in addition to drafting case summaries and recommendations for the judge's use in ruling on motions.
While in law school, Ms. Mehdi worked with the Shawnee County District Attorney's Office, as well as the highly respectable health law firm, Posinelli. Ms. Mehdi was also recognized as a senior staff articles editor with the Kansas Journal of Law & Public Policy, a research assistant and contributor of Understanding Islamic Law (by Raj Bhala, Rice Distinguished Professor of Law and associate dean at the University of Kansas School of Law), and a participant at the Health Law Moot Court (at Southern Illinois University School of Law). In recognition of her commitment to the field of law, Ms. Mehdi was selected to receive the Professor William R. Scott Scholarship. Today, in addition to being admitted to practice in Nevada, Ms. Mehdi also serves as a board member with the University of Kansas School of Law and the Clark County Medical Society Alliance. She maintains involvement with a wide range of industry organizations, including the American Health Lawyers Association, and the health law and business law sections of the American Bar Association.
