Mu Sang Lee Celebrated for Professional Excellence in Academia

    SUSEONG-GU, REPUBLIC OF KOREA, April 24, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Mu Sang Lee has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With more than 40 years of professional experience, Dr. Lee has been recognized as professor emeritus of Kyungpook National University since 2011, having been a professor since 1990. Prior to obtaining this role, he worked with the school as an associate professor from 1985 to 1990, and an assistant professor from 1978 to 1985, having begun as a full-time lecturer with the Teachers College. In addition to his primary positions, he served as head of the Science Education Research institute from 2001 to 2003.

Dr. Lee began his career as a student at Kyungpook National University, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts. He later traveled to the United States to earn a PhD in chemistry from the University of Georgia in 1983, also serving as a visiting professor with the University of South Carolina Department of Chemistry for a year.

A respected voice in the industry, Dr. Lee has published more than 60 articles in science education journals, and has authored and coauthored more than 15 books. Dr. Lee is a lifelong member of the Korean Chemical Society and has served the organization in multiple capacities, including acting as the chief editor of the "Journal of Chemistry Education" from 2004 to 2005 and chairman of the Physical Chemistry Subcommittee in 2004. In addition, he also served as the Institute of Science Culture of the Korea Science Foundation from 2005 to 2006.

Dr. Lee has received numerous awards for his contributions to the field, including the Okjo National Medal of Civil Merit by the Republic of Korea in 2011. In 2008, Kyungpook University commended him for 35 years of continuous service. The son of Woncheol Lee and Boonyoung Ryu, Dr. Lee has been married to Sunghan Han since 1976. They have two children, Ho Young and JI Won, and two grandchildren.
