Martin G. McGuinn Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    PITTSBURGH, PA, April 25, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Martin G. McGuinn with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. McGuinn celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. With more than 45 years of industry experience to his credit, Mr. McGuinn is currently retired, having most recently held the positions of chief executive officer and chairman with the Mellon Financial Corporation (now Bank of New York Mellon) from 1998 to 2006. Prior to these appointments, he served as general counsel for Mellon from 1981 to 1998. Mr. McGuinn began his career as an associate with Sullivan & Cromwell from 1970 to 1977, as well as managing counsel for The Singer Company from 1977 to 1980.

Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. McGuinn pursued an education at Villanova University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1964. He concluded his studies at Villanova University in 1967, graduating with a Doctor of Jurisprudence. He served as Editor-in-Chief of Volume 12 of the Villanova Law Review. Following these accomplishments, he was admitted to practice by the Pennsylvania Bar Association in 1967 and the New York State Bar Association in 1970. In 2013, Mr. McGuinn was presented with an honorary Doctor of Jurisprudence by Villanova University.

Beyond his efforts within the field, Mr. McGuinn has contributed to numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. Since 1972, he has been on the board of consultors for the Charles Widger School of Law at Villanova University, on which he served as chairman from 1985 to 1987. He has also worked on the board of directors for the U.S.-Japan Business Council, Inc., on the board of directors of the UPMC Health Systems, as chairman for the Allegheny Conference on Community Development from 2003 to 2005, and as chairman of the Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania from 1997 to 2002. He served as trustee of Carnegie Mellon University, and the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh. He has been a member of the board of Carnegie Museum of Art since 1986 and chair since 2011.

In addition to his primary trade, Mr. McGuinn remains associated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. A director for the American Bankers Association, he has maintained involvement as director of the Celanese Corporation from 2007 to 2016, The Chubb Corporation from 2008 to 2017, and iGATE Corporation from 2008 to 2015. Likewise, he was the chairman for the Financial Services Roundtable from 2004 to 2005, president of the advisory board for the Federal Reserve Board in 2005, and chairman for the American Society of Corporate Secretaries from 1990 to 1991. Mr. McGuinn was also on the boards of Shinsei Bank, Limited, MasterCard International Incorporated, (Chairman, 1996-2000).

Furthermore, Mr. McGuinn has served on the advisory board for CapGen Financial Group, LP. Additionally, he has served on the boards of such establishments as the General Re Corporation. In light of his exceptional undertakings, Mr. McGuinn has been selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the East and Who's Who in the World.
