Law Firm Hopes Its VA Disability Calculator Demystifies VA Benefits

"We hope the disability calculator helps to clarify VA disability ratings and gives veterans some insight into the amount of benefits they should be receiving based on their combined rating."

PROVIDENCE, RI, April 28, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Veterans disability law firm Chisholm Chisholm & Kilpatrick LTD created an easy-to-use disability calculator that the firm hopes will give disabled veterans insight into their combined VA disability rating and their monthly compensation.

To use the VA Disability Calculator, veterans first indicate if their disability rating is for an extremity (arm or leg) and which side of the body is affected (right or left). Then, they select their disability rating percentage for that extremity. This will add that disability rating into the calculator's equation. Next, veterans answer four simple questions regarding the other factors VA considers when determining disability compensation.

There are no equations or formulas to follow. And no technical language that only the Veterans Administration understands.

Once they enter their disability rating(s) and answer the four questions, veterans can then scroll down to see their combined disability rating and their estimated monthly benefit amount.

"Our firm's goal is to help veterans navigate the VA's disability benefits system," said Rose Burberry-Martin, Marketing Coordinator at Chisholm Chisholm & Kilpatrick LTD. "Unfortunately, a lot of veterans find the system overly complex, leaving many unsure of what their disability rating is and what their monthly compensation should be."

That's why the lawyers and veterans advocates at Chisholm Chisholm & Kilpatrick LTD created the disability calculator. "VA math," as the firm calls it, is complicated and confusing. "Two plus two does not equal four when you do VA math," says Burberry-Martin.

"We hope the disability calculator helps to clarify VA disability ratings and gives veterans some insight into the amount of benefits they should be receiving based on their combined rating."

But Burberry-Martin is quick to point out that the calculator gives an estimate of benefits.

"A lot of circumstances could affect benefits and the calculator is a tool meant to provide an estimate; it cannot account for every possible unique scenario."

The disability calculator is free to use and available to everybody. But Chisholm Chisholm & Kilpatrick LTD advises veterans to consult a lawyer or veterans advocate for help navigating the VA's disability system and to make sure they are getting the benefits to which they are entitled.
