Michiro Akaiwa, Ph.D., Celebrates More Than 25 Years of Professional Excellence

Dr. Akaiwa was awarded by Atsugi Motor Parts Co. Ltd. for his patent applications



    HIRATSUKA-SHI, JAPAN, April 30, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Michiro Akaiwa, Ph.D., has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With more than 25 years of professional experience, Dr. Akaiwa worked as a designer and developer of hydraulic devices with the Atsugi Motor Parts Co. Ltd. from 1978 to 1992. Prior to obtaining this role, he was a service engineer of hydraulic devices with Denison Hydraulics Japan Co. Ltd from 1973 to 1978. Earlier in his career, he served as technical engineer of production of car motor parts with Kasai Industry Co. Ltd from 1967 to 1973.

Interested in hydraulic mechanics from an early age, Dr. Akaiwa has been affiliated with numerous professional organizations throughout his career. He is a member of the Institute of Electrostatics Japan and the Japan Fluid Power System Society.

Dr. Akaiwa holds a First Grade Skill Certificate for the Examination of Hydraulic Devices Alignment. In addition, he has studied at international institutions, and he holds a Master of Science in advanced mechanical engineering from the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom, where he also earned a Doctor of Philosophy in electrorheological fluids at the University of Liverpool. He then began to submit manuscripts concerning the theory of electrorheological (ER) fluids to journals. In 2015, when Dr. Akaiwa was 72 years of age, the Journal of Intelligent Material System and Structure published his paper entitled "Considering the cluster generation mechanism of electrorheological fluids due to dipole polarization." His second paper, "Behavior of an electrorheological fluid chain under squeeze flow" was also accepted and published by the same journal in 2016.

Throughout his career, Dr. Akaiwa has been recognized for his contributions, including by the Atsugi Motor Parts Co. Ld. for the number of patent applications he has submitted, including the design of power steering gears and pressure control valves. In his free time, he enjoys traveling and weight training, and he is licensed in amateur radiotelegraphy.
