With nearly 54 years of industry experience, Ms. Douskey has worked as a nurse case manager for the home care program for the elderly at the Agency on Aging of South Central Connecticut since 1998. Prior to this appointment, she held the positions of nurse consultant with Anthem Insurance Companies, Inc. from 1997 to 1998, case manager and nurse for Community Care, Inc. from 1998 to 1990 and again from 1993 to 1997, and home care coordinator for the Milford Hospital from 1990 to 1993. Previously, she was a nurse for the Regional Visiting Nurses Agency in North Haven, CT, from 1983 to 1987, and an assistant director of nursing at the Meriden-Wallingford Hospital from 1980 to 1981. From 1959 to 1980, Ms. Douskey served in various capacities for the Yale New Haven Hospital as a part of Yale New Haven Health.
Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Douskey pursued an education at the Grace-New Haven School of Nursing, where she was certified as a registered nurse in 1959. She followed this accomplishment with a Bachelor of Science in nursing in 1962 from Southern Connecticut State University. Ms. Douskey concluded her studies at the University of New Haven in 1979, graduating with a Master of Public Administration in health care.
A respected voice in her field, Ms. Douskey has been affiliated with numerous professional organizations. She was a member of the American Nurses Association, the Connecticut Association for Continuity of Care, the Orange Visiting Nurse Association, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and the Connecticut Nurses Association, the latter of which she served on the nominating committee from 1972 to 1974 and the professional advisory committee since 2000. In addition to her efforts in the field, Ms. Douskey has been active in her community. She is especially proud of having established social ministries outreach programs at her local church, as well as support for her local animal shelter.
Ms. Douskey has been selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in American Nursing and Who's Who in the East.
