An accomplished listee, Ms. King celebrates many years of experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. With more than 45 years of professional experience, Ms. King has been a partner with her husband in King and King, Attorneys-At-Law, since 1993, and previously from 1985 to 1990. In this current position, she has represented clients in divorce, contested child custody, paternity, business disputes and criminal cases. In the intervening years between her work at the firm, she was chief of the Trials Division with the Corporation Counsel's office of the City and County of Honolulu. Prior thereto, she worked as a deputy Corporation Counsel from 1975 to 1985 successfully defending the city in police misconduct, traffic and other cases. Her first full-time employment was as a deputy prosecuting attorney with the City and County of Honolulu trying hundreds of cases ranging from traffic to murder.

She attended the University of Detroit, now University of Detroit Mercy, majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry, graduating in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Encouraged to pursue a career in law by her mother, Ms. King applied and was accepted by the University of Detroit's Law School. She found she had a natural talent for the law and that she enjoyed helping people and making a difference in their lives. She obtained a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1972 leaving for Hawai'i a month after graduation. She was admitted to practice law in Hawai'i and Michigan, the U.S. District Court for the District of Hawai'i and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

A respected leader in her field, Ms. King was selected to and still serves as a mediator and arbitrator with the State of Hawai'i's Court Annexed Arbitration Program since its inception in 1987. She was appointed in 1989 by Mayor Fasi to serve on the City and County's Zoning Board of Appeals, where she was elected chair, leaving a year later to become the first woman to head the Trials Division at the City attorney's office. She was elected to the Board of Directors of the Hawai'i State Bar Association in 1991. She was elected Chair of the Family Law Section of the Hawai'i State Bar Association in 2006 and is a current Board member of the Section. In that position she served on the Family Court Legislative Task Force from 2007 to 2010. She founded and chaired the Honolulu Family Court Professionals from 2005 to 2008 to lobby the state legislature to retain family court services in downtown Honolulu. Ms. King is a co-founder, former president and former board member of the Hawai'i Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. She has been a guest facilitator and mock trial evaluator at the University of Hawai'i's William S. Richardson School of Law and a faculty member for sessions of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy. She is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Bar Association and the Republican National Lawyers Association. She has written herself, or been quoted in, innumerable published articles in print and on-line media since 1971.

Ms. King has also been an active member in her community. She has been a member of The Rotary Club of Waikiki since 2010 and has been on the Board of Directors since 2015 also serving as the club's International Services Chair. She has worked on Rotary projects in Burma and Taiwan. She is a member of Elks Lodge 616 and was appointed as Subordinate Forum Justice from 2013 to 2015 and 2017 to 2018. She was appointed by Governor Lingle to the State of Hawai'i Commission on the Status of Women serving from 2010 to 2012. She chaired fundraisers for Chamber Music of Hawai'i, and worked on various fundraisers for Muscular Dystrophy, Native Hawaiian Legal Corporation and Punahou School. She was on the Board of the Junior League of Honolulu and the Ka Iwi Action Council, a local environmental group. Ms. King is active in her church, The Episcopal Cathedral of St. Andrews sitting and chairing numerous boards within the church and the diocese, having also been appointed a deputy vice-chancellor by Bishop Hart, serving from 1989 to 1996.

Ms. King has been active politically, most recently as a member of the Executive Committee of the Hawai'i Trump campaign serving as the attorney advisor to the local Trump campaign chair. She was a Trump delegate to the Republican National Convention in Cleveland in 2016, serving on the Platform Committee. She has attended as a delegate or alternate delegate three previous Republican National Conventions, serving on Platform the first time in Minnesota in 2008. She was a Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor in 2010, having previously run several times for State House. She has held innumerable positions within the Hawai'i Republican Party and worked on local and national campaigns going back to 1974. As Chair of The Honolulu Tea Party, she retained the American Center for Law and Justice to secure 501c3 status for the group, which joined as one of the plaintiffs with the Linchpins of Liberty in the successful lawsuit against the IRS. She is a member of the Heritage Foundation and the Federalist Society.

Attributing her success to her dedication, hard work, and the long ago realization that you can have it all just not all at once, Ms. King has received numerous awards, recognition and honors for her achievements. She was honored by the Hawai'i State Senate in 2012 for the distinction of being a finalist in Hawai'i Pacific Business News Businesswoman of the Year for Profit award. The Hawai'I Family Law Section in 2000 gave her their Community Service Award. She has received several President's Citation for her Rotary Service and is currently a ruby level Paul Harris Fellow.

However, what Ms. King treasures most are the letters and endorsements received over the years from clients, friends and supporters relating how she made such a positive difference in their lives or in the community. In her free time, Ms. King enjoys reading history, gardening, being with her two sons and grandson, and walking her two labs with her husband of 44 years, Samuel P. King, Jr.
