Dr. Landon, a retired senior pastor at Gardenside Baptist Church in Kentucky, is also known locally as a professor emeritus in the College of Social Work at the University of Kentucky. Concluding his career in academia in 1998, he is an expert in social work who spent 13 years on campus as both a professor and associate dean of the department. He also spent 11 previous years as an associate professor and coordinator of the undergraduate program in social work and two years as an assistant professor and coordinator of base courses, beginning in 1971. Prior to his 27 years at the university, Dr. Landon briefly served as the director of social work education at Taylor University in Upland, IN, taught at Ball State University in Muncie, IN, and was acting chairman of the sociology department at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, IN. In the field, he spent two years as a regional supervisor with the Iowa Department of Social Welfare in Des Moines between 1965 and 1967.

Ordained in the 1960s, Dr. Landon first received a Bachelor of Arts from Taylor University in 1959. He then earned a Master of Divinity at Christian Theological Seminary in 1962, Master of Social Work at Indiana University in 1966, and Doctor of Philosophy in social science at Ball State University in 1972. Becoming active with a number of professional organizations during his career, Dr. Landon was affiliated with the American Association of University Professors, the Council on Social Work Education and the National Association of Social Workers for many years. An avid organ player who often volunteers his services, he has also been active with the American Guild of Organists and the American Theater Organ Society.

Throughout his journey, Dr. Landon conducted an extensive amount of research, which resulted in several books. "From These Men" was published in 1966, followed by "Jesse Crawford, Poet of the Organ, Wizard of the Mighty Wurlitzer" in 1974, "Behold the Mighty Wurlitzer, The History of the Theatre Pipe Organ" in 1983, and "The Development of Social Welfare" in 1986. Notably, Dr. Landon has been highlighted in approximately 30 editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Religion and Who's Who in the World.
