Dr. Sabbagha is recognized in the health care industry for his contributions and research in diagnostic ultrasound in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. He is founder of the Obstetric/Gynecologic complete concise reporting system. In this way, the pertinent history of the patient and the ultrasound findings are displayed on a one page laser printed report, rather than on a four to five pages that may likely dilute the particulars. He currently serves as the Medical Director of the center of Obstetric/ and Gynecologic Ultrasound and its subsidiary Souma Diagnostics, both of which serve the OBGYN needs of a large number of health care providers in Chicago; Dr. Sabbagha has held this position since 1994. Since 1995, he has also held the title of Professor Emeritus at Northwestern University. He served in academia for 35 years, having acted as a clinical professor at the Pritzker School of Medicine at the University of Chicago from 1995 to 2000, as a professor at Northwestern University from 1975 to 1994, and as an assistant professor in the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Pittsburgh from 1970 to 1975. Dr. Sabbagha began his career at the Trans-Arabian Pipeline Company in Saudi Arabia, and subsequently served as the head of the department of OB/GYN in 1969. Over the course of his career, Dr. Sabbagha has also shared his expertise as an Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Prentice Women's Hospital in Chicago.

Dr. Sabbagha graduated from American University in Beirut with a Bachelor of Arts in 1952 and a Doctor of Medicine in 1958. He is not only recognized as a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Inc. but also served as one of the Board Examiners for 13 years. Dr. Sabbagha has published more than 100 papers in peer reviewed journals. He has also acted as the co-editor of "Fetal Anomalies: Ultrasound Diagnosis and Postnatal Management" in 2001, and as the editor of "Ultrasound Applied to Obstetrics and Gynecology" in 1980 and 1994. He is a member of the Society for Gynecologic Investigation, the American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society, and the Central Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Since 1994, the OB/GYN Ultrasound Center under the direction of Dr. Sabbagha and staff has been designated as a Teaching Site for some Triton College students who aspire to become registered diagnostic medical sonographers in OB/GYN.

Dr. Sabbagha has been the recipient of a number of awards for his outstanding contributions to his field. From 1994 to 1995, his book was recognized as one of the Best 250 Health Sciences Books by Doody's Rating Service. He also served as a Diagnostic Ultrasound Fellow at the University of Glasgow in 1970, as a Teaching Fellow at the Magee-Womens Hospital at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center from 1965 to 1968, as a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and as a Fellow of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM). He also served for two terms as an elected member of the Board of Governors of the AIUM. He was the recipient of the William Heath Byford Award presented to an outstanding alumnus in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University. He was also the recipient of the Wyeth-Ayerst Public Recognition Award, presented by the Medical Education Foundation and the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics. Dr. Sabbagha was also honored by the establishment of the annual "Sabbagha Lecture" in perpetuity, by Northwestern U., the Prentice Women's Hospital and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, the Magee Womens Hospital.

Additionally, Dr. Sabbagha was featured in Who's Who in American Education and numerous editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the Midwest and Who's Who in the World.

Dr. Sabbagha moved to the United States in 1965. He is the son of Elias C. Sabbagha, MD and Sonia B. Sabbagha. In addition to his professional success, he celebrates 60 years of marriage to his wise wife Asma E. Sahyouny. They have two children, Elias R. Sabbagha, MD and Randa C. Sabbagha, PsyD.
