NORTHFIELD, MN, June 21, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Mary Frost Steen with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Steen celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

An emeritus associate professor of English at St. Olaf College since 2009, Ms. Steen taught for 44 years serving for five of them as chair of the English department. An expert in creative non-fiction, she also enjoyed the opportunity to conduct extensive research in the Library of Congress for two years when her husband was directing a National Academy of Sciences board. During that time, Ms. Steen wrote several articles that combined her interest in research, writing and fiber arts.

A career that enabled her to attend the NGO Forum paralleling the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing in 1995 and serve on the League of Women Voters Minnesota Board as second vice president, editor and writer for nearly 20 years, Ms. Steen has been on the board of the Friends of the Library since 2010. She formerly served on the board of the Friends of Way Park between 2010 and 2016.

Born in Minneapolis, Ms. Steen came from a family of writers and educators. Although she considered other paths, she eventually decided that teaching was exactly what she wanted to do. Becoming a National Merit Foundation Scholar between 1958 and 1962, she earned her undergraduate degree at Luther College in Decorah, IA, in 1962 and a Master of Arts in teaching at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA, in 1965. She and her late husband, Lynn Arthur Steen, have two daughters and six grandsons. In her spare time, Ms. Steen enjoys reading and traveling.

She has been cited in several editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who of American Women since 2007. In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Mary Frost Steen has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website.
