Frances Darlene Irwin Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    MOSES LAKE, WA, June 22, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Frances Darlene Irwin with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Irwin celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. With more than 48 years of industry experience to her credit, Ms. Irwin is currently retired having most recently worked as a school nurse for three schools between 2006 and 2011. Prior to this appointment, she was the office manager and nurse for the Irwin Surgical Group, Inc., from 1988 to 2006, a staff nurse for Mount Carmel Hospital from 1979 to 1986, an office manager and nurse for James R. Irwin, MD from 1975 to 1979 and a mission coworker and teacher for the United Methodist Church in Ganta, Liberia from 1974 to 1975. Previously, she held the positions as a nurse consultant and researcher with the Planned Parenthood in Des Moines, IA from 1968 to 1970, staff nurse at Deaconess Hospital (now MultiCare), Spokane in surgical and obstetrical units and school nurse for the Kansas City, MO Public Schools from 1964 to 1967. She has served in mission in Liberia with the United Methodist Church as a nurse and instructor, 1974-1975, with the Presbyterian Church in Ethiopia, 1966 and Kenya, 1975. Ms. Irwin began her career as a nurse at the Student Health Center for Whitworth University in 1964. Ms. Irwin also served as an Emergency Medical Technician for Stevens County, WA 1977 to 1987. She has served as a Red Cross Mother and Child Instructor, 1967-1972.

Before embarking on her professional past, Ms. Irwin pursued an education at the Deaconess School of Nursing, earning a diploma in 1963. She completed her studies at Whitworth College in 1964, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. In 1964, Ms. Irwin was registered as a nurse by the State of Washington. She has held nursing licenses in the states of Missouri, New Mexico and Iowa.

Beyond her efforts with her field, Ms. Irwin has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. Ms. Irwin has been active in her church, serving as Moderator of Central Washington Presbytery, 1995-1996. She was elected to the General Assembly Council of the Presbyterian Church USA and served on the Worldwide Ministries Division of that Council. During that time she traveled in mission to Turkey and Russia. She has been supportive of the Kargel and Baedeker School, St. Petersburg, Russia, church-to-church relationships with the Russian Network and the ministry with the Kurdish people through the Kurdish Network. Ms. Irwin presently serves of the Executive Board of Northwest Coast Presbytery.

Ms. Irwin is a founding team member of Moses Lake Medical Team, serving as a nurse and a pharmacy technician as the team has made 13 short- term missions to Nigeria and Nicaragua, 2008 to present.

Ms. Irwin has been active in the Washington State Medical Society through its Auxiliary/Alliance. She is past president and secretary of Washington State Auxiliary 1976-1988, a member of a committee that was involved in developing the Washington State Organ Donor program and Washington Organ Donor Week, 1979, representative to the Political Action Committee of the Washington State Medical Association from 1995 to 2000. She has served on the Women in Business Committee in Moses Lake, WA and has been a presenter, 1989-1998. She has trained and been an instructor of the Interpersonal Skills Seminar for PPR from 1984 to 1988. Ms. Irwin served on a Missouri Nurses Association Committee that wrote and authored the Missouri School Immunization manual, 1965.

In addition to her primary trade, Ms. Irwin has been or continues in affiliation with various organizations. She is an active member Kiwanis and has served as Moses Lake Kiwanis President 2012-13. During her presidency she developed a plan to put AED's in all of the schools of Moses Lake School District. Between the local Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs and national foundations, $38,000 was raised for this project. This led to fund development the next year to put AED's in all buildings at Big Bend Community College. She continues to serve as chairman of the Kiwanis Community Prayer Breakfast. She has been involved with the American Endurance Ride Association and the Northwest Endurance Rider Association, Arabian Horse Association and Washington State Farm Bureau.
