BILLERICA, MA, July 02, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Charles H. Cox III, Sc.D., with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Cox celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Cox is the president and chief executive officer of Photonic Systems, Inc. (PSI), in Billerica, MA. Well known for his discovery of the fact that analog photonic links can achieve signal gain without the use of amplifiers, he has been a leader and prolific inventor in the field of microwave photonics and RF for nearly 30 years. His company provides comprehensive research and engineering services as well as products to address a wide range of applications for the defense, telecommunications, and radio astronomy communities. Providing radio-frequency, microwave, millimeter-wave and photonic solutions, PSI offers two product lines that include high-performance components and subsystems that use such components to enable the transport and processing of radio- and higher-frequency signals. Some of these subsystems incorporate methods patented by Dr. Cox that were the first to enable simultaneous transmit and receive (STAR) using a single antenna or the reception of low-power signals of interest by one antenna in the presence of higher-power interference signals transmitted by other antennas. Prior to forming PSI, Dr. Cox worked at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and MIT Lincoln Labs.

During his career, Dr. Cox has served on various committees and has participated in nearly 20 conferences in roles such as general chairman and technical program chairman. He has also been active with numerous government-industry studies on photonics. Dr. Cox has given approximately 70 invited talks on photonics and has published more than 80 technical papers. He has written six book chapters, served as a co-editor for one book, and is the author of the textbook, "Analog Optical Links: Theory and Practice," published by Cambridge University Press in 2004.

Dr. Cox holds 26 U.S. and foreign patents. He is an elected fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and The Optical Society. From 2003 – 2009 Dr. Cox served as a member of the Advisory Group on Electron Devices (AGED), a standing sub-committee of the Defense Science Board. Dr. Cox earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in electrical engineering at the University of Pennsylvania and a Doctor of Science in electrical engineering and computer science at MIT.
