Prior to this appointment, he held the position of vice president of flavor research and design technology for Natural Flavors Inc., chemist in the flavor laboratory for General Foods, and senior vice president for the flavor division for Technology Flavors and Fragrances Inc. Likewise, Mr. Farber excelled as a junior flavor chemist and senior flavor chemist in the mid-1970s.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Farber pursued an education at Queens College, CUNY, earning a Bachelor of Applied Science in chemistry. Additionally, he holds multiple patents within his field. Beyond his primary trade, Mr. Farber remains affiliated with the Society of Flavor Chemists, FEMA (Flavor and Extract Manufacturers Association), the Chemical Sources Association, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, for which he has served as a bird tagger.
Attributing his success to organization and creativity, Mr. Farber entered his industry when a colleague recommended he work in the "flavor house" for General Foods, where he would make flavors for all types of products. With a natural talent as a flavor chemist, his work has helped companies with low sales turn their business completely around, with his previous company doubling their sales during his tenure. Furthermore, he enjoys bird photography and traveling in his spare time. Looking towards the future, Mr. Farber plans to continue his impressive work at Brookside Flavors & Ingredients, as he loves what he does and has no intention of retirement.
