Growing up in Venezuela, her interest in the field was sparked in high school when she started working with underprivileged teens in her neighborhood. In this capacity, she educated her peers on important topics such as health, sex education, and wellness. She was the first in her family to pursue a career in psychology and always received support and encouragement from her parents. In preparation for her career as a clinical psychologist, Dr. Bird received a Bachelor of Art in Psychology and Hispanic Studies from Vassar College, a Master of Art in Applied Psychology from Adelphi University, a Master of Art in Human Resources Management from the New School for Social Research, and a Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from Yeshiva University. She is a licensed psychologist in the state of New York, an AASECT certified sex therapist and supervisor, an EMDRIA certified EMDR therapist and consultant, a cognitive behavioral therapist, and a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner (SEP).

Dr. Bird began her accomplished career with a clinical externship at St. Mary's Children and Family Services in Syosset, NY, and she now services the New York City area through her own private practice. She is also a clinical instructor and supervisor in the department of psychiatry at the NYU Langone School of Medicine. Outside of her practical work in the field, Dr. Bird also holds lectures nationally and internationally. Some of her important topics of discussion include, "The Changing Mental Health Landscape and the Latino Practitioner: Changing Trends in Treatment," "Sexual Attitudes and Behaviors in the Hispanic Culture," "Helping Young Adults Discuss Sexuality with their Children," and "Issues in Sexuality in the Latino Community." Fluent in English, Spanish, and Yiddish, Dr. Bird also regularly shares her expertise in Spanish-language articles in Latina and Hispanic magazines, and with appearances on several English and Spanish television stations including, Telemundo, CBS, Telenoticias, NY/CNN Internacional, and Fox NY. She also previously co-hosted a weekly radio talk show broadcasted in New York and Miami about sexuality called "Siempre a tu Lado" ("Always at Your Side").

A dedicated professional in her field, Dr. Bird maintains affiliation with numerous organizations, such as the American Psychological Association, the American Group Psychotherapy Association, the American Orthopsychiatry Association, the New York State Psychological Association, Sigma Delta Phi, the NYU Bellevue Psychiatric Society, and the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists. Additionally, she has served on the board of directors of Mothers of Children with AIDS, the Association of Hispanic Mental Health Professionals, and the Latino Behavioral Care Network. Dr. Bird feels that each interaction she has with a patient is a highlight in her career. Looking toward the future, she hopes to continue providing for her patients, her community, and her field.
