With more than 50 years of professional experience, Mr. Silverman joined Rosenberg & Estis, PC, in 2018 as a member and building construction lawyer, having been a partner with Duane Morris, LLP, since 2008. Prior to obtaining these positions, he worked as a partner with Thelen, LLP, from 1989 to 2008, and a partner with Golenbock & Barell from 1972 to 1989, having been an associate with the firm from 1968 to 1972. Earlier in his career, he served as an associate with Baer and Marks from 1965 to 1968, and as a law clerk for Chief Judge Lumbard of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
Mr. Silverman began his career as an engineering assistant with General Electric from 1958 to 1962. While working in this position, he studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in engineering in 1960, and a Bachelor of Science in industrial management in 1961. He went on to attend Columbia University, where he earned a Juris Doctor in 1964. Mr. Silverman has been admitted to practice in the state of New York and before the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the National Society of Professional Engineers, the New York Society of Professional Engineers, and the Construction Specifications Institute.
A respected leader in the field, Mr. Silverman is renowned for his expertise in construction law, project transactional documentation and negotiation, and dispute resolution. He was appointed to a special commission to study and report on cost reduction for New York City public school projects by former mayor Michael Bloomberg, and he represented the September 11 World Trade Center Memorial and Museum from inception, the Milstein Teaching and Learning Center at Barnard College, the Barbara Walters Campus Center at Sarah Lawrence College, and numerous other residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects.
Throughout his career, he has been awarded many times for his professional accomplishments. From 2007 until 2018, he has been named one of The Best Lawyers in America in construction law. Additionally, he has been recognized multiple times as a Top Rated Lawyer in Construction, one of Corporate Counsel's Best Lawyers, and a New York Super Lawyer.
