STRATFORD, CT, July 10, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Karin Nadja Douglas with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Douglas celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Douglas is a retired agency compliance coordinator with ITT Flygt Corporation in Trumbull, CT. Enjoying 18 years at the organization, she officially retired in 2005. Throughout her career, she also spent time as an engineering consultant for several engineering corporations throughout Fairfield County, CT, was an electrical designer for UOP Air Correction Division in Norwalk for 15 years, and was an apprentice in technical drafting and design at Hasler AG in Bern, Switzerland, between 1961 and 1963.

The daughter of an engineer, Ms. Douglas learned early on the importance of hard work in such a male-dominated field. Forced to work harder than her male colleagues, she not only broke barriers but she also came out on top. Recognized numerous times for her diligence, she earned a Harold S. Geneen Community Service Award from ITT Industries and a Distinguished Alumni Award from Sacred Heart University in 2002. She was also named Woman of Substance by the Connecticut Post in 1997 and received a D-Day Award from the National Lymphedema Network in 1996. Furthermore, Ms. Douglas was responsible for inventing the pink wristband for hospitals, the lymphedema alert bracelet, and for designing the lymphedema awareness pin with turquoise ribbon.

An alumnus of Sacred Heart University, Ms. Douglas earned an Associate of Science in legal administration, magna cum laude, in 1984. She later spent close to a decade serving on the university college council between 2000 and 2009. She continues to serve as a participant for a medical research project at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute at Yale School of Medicine since 2016 and as a member of the patient advisory committee at Yale School of Public Health since 2014. Working with breast cancer patients and survivors over the age of 65 and helping them to make informed treatment decisions, Ms. Douglas is a two-time breast cancer survivor. During her career, she was also very active as the secretary of the Friends of Boothe Park, Inc., in the museum and rose garden in Stratford between 1985 and 2015.

Ms. Douglas has been responsible for establishing two scholarships at her alma mater, one in honor of her dear friend, Evelyn Conley, in order to help the next generation of students fulfill their dreams of education and careers in law, and a second after Sister Margaret Palliser, Ph.D., who once served as Sacred Heart's assistant vice president for Mission and Planning for several years, and who also suffered from lymphedema as she did.

A former licensed pilot, Ms. Douglas was born and raised in Berlin, Germany, and later traveled to the United States in 1963. Married to Robert P. Douglas for nearly 40 years until his passing on June 12, 2008, she has been included in approximately 20 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Karin Nadja Douglas has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
