Margaret Perry Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    ITHACA, NY, July 10, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Margaret Perry with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Perry celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Retired for 25 years, Ms. Perry was a university librarian at Valparaiso University in Indiana between 1982 and 1993. She formerly served in a number of capacities at the University of Rochester in New York for 10 years, including acting director of libraries, assistant director of libraries, associate professor and assistant professor. Her career history also included working as the chief of circulation for the U.S. Military Library in West Point, NY, librarian for the U.S. Army in both France and Germany, and young adult and reference librarian for the New York Public Library in New York City, dating back to 1954.

An expert in The Harlem Renaissance, Ms. Perry earned a Bachelor of Arts at Western Michigan University, a diplôme d'études en langue française at the University of Paris, and a Master of Science in Library Science at The Catholic University of America. In addition to her near 40-year career in library science, she has served on the task force on Cooperative Education in Rochester, NY, and as a freelance writer for the Michigan Land Use Institute. She is the author of several books, including "The Short Fiction of Rudolph Fisher" in 1987 and "The Harlem Renaissance" in 1982, has written several short stories and has contributed articles to various professional journals and children's magazines.

A member of the Ithaca Community Orchestra since 2004, where she plays the violin, Ms. Perry formerly spent 22 years at Interlochen Arts Academy for Adult Chamber Music in Michigan due to her love of chamber music. A lifetime member of the American Library Association, she has been the recipient of several awards for her writing, including a First Prize Award for a short story contest by the Armed Forces Writers League and a First Prize Award for a short story by Arts Alive. Furthermore, Ms. Perry has been cited in every edition of Who's Who in America since 1987, as well as many more editions of Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.
