After extensive journaling and being encouraged by an instructor, Ms. Colwell took the plunge and began devoting herself to creative writing. Ms. Colwell had been exploring her potential as a writer while recuperating from an illness when she realized that she had a gift. Focusing primarily on inspirational stories for children and teens, Ms. Colwell is skilled in capturing the imaginations of her young readers. With seven years of publishing experience, Ms. Colwell most recently has written a short story called "Saving Rico," about a young man who saves a German shepherd. Over the years, she has published children's books, short stories, inspirational stories for adults, mysteries and books about nature and sports. The most rewarding aspect of her job is creating stories that everyone can enjoy. Her proudest moment came after publishing her first story, "Pete," about a parakeet.

Ms. Colwell has completed coursework at Spokane Community College. She is a member of American Writers Publications, the Institute of Children's Writers and the Spokane Authors and Self-Publishers.
