"I think we should all have a relationship without out country like I do with my grandfather, where we feel safe to express who we are without fear," says Kelli Blair, artist.
FORT WORTH, TX, July 18, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Art means different things to everyone and Texas Artist Kelli Blair is proving that. Kelli Blair (@virtualartportfolio on Instagram) is one of the finalists of the 'Snap and Share Art Walk' at the Fort Worth Design District, an art walk that will display 16 new murals, art installations, sculptures (and more) throughout a 24-month span. For those not familiar with one of the trendiest districts in Fort Worth yet, Fort Worth Design District is home to three new business parks: Golden Triangle Business Park, Box Office Warehouse Suites and Paddock Place Office Suites.
While this is the first contest that Kelli has entered in her artistic career, it certainly will not be her last. Call it destiny or fate, but this particular edition of the 'Snap and Share Art Walk' could have not been any more suiting. The theme was "Let Freedom Ring," and Blair knew this was something she needed to be part of. When asked what inspired her mural proposal, Blair said "When I read the theme was patriotic, I immediately thought of my grandfather. He served in the Navy during World War II. I thought about what patriotism means to me and what he means to me. The whole process was very natural… I think we should all have a relationship with our country like I do with my grandfather, where we feel safe to express who we are without fear."
And fearless she is. Kelli tackled on this mural challenge and it was her vision of patriotism that landed her a spot as a finalist. Kelli has been doodling art her whole life but did not take her first art class until junior high. She has been building her professional business name since November 2017. While she has done murals on the side of a barn and home interiors, this will be Kelli's first mural on the side of a converted shipping container building.
Stop by Box Office Warehouse Suites, located in North Fort Worth, south of the Alliance area, to "snap and share" Blair's mural. One piece of advice Kelli wants to offer young artists is to never stop practicing. Practice something every day. There will be pieces you start and that will be straight up bad, but don't let that discourage you from continuing to try. If art makes you happy, don't put it in the back seat."
