Robert Allen Stein, Esq., Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    MINNEAPOLIS, MN, July 23, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Robert Allen Stein, Esq., with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. Mr. Stein works of counsel for the law firm of Gray Plant Mooty, the oldest continuing law practice headquartered in Minneapolis with additional offices in St. Cloud, Minn., Fargo, N.D. and Washington, D.C. Serving in this capacity since 2006, he formerly held this same responsibility for the firm from 1980 to 1994. Practicing law since 1961, Mr. Stein served as the executive director and chief operating officer of the American Bar Association for 12 years: from 1994 to 2006.

Juggling two amazing careers, Mr. Stein is also a longtime educator who first taught at the University of Minnesota Law School, for which he later served as associate dean, dean, vice president of administration and planning, and as a faculty representative of men's intercollegiate athletics. An Everett Fraser professor of law since 2006, he was more recently honored as the Distinguished Global Professor in 2017.

A legacy that involves estate planning and wills and trust law, Mr. Stein has been focusing the last decade or so of his career on building the rule of law in nations around the world. Furthermore, Mr. Stein has served as a visiting scholar and visiting professor at several universities across the country, chaired numerous committees for the Uniform State Laws Commission, served on the board of directors for such organizations as the American Friends of Uppsala University, the Educational Credit Management Company Group, and as a Trustee of Great Northern Iron Ore Properties.

In the classroom, Mr. Stein teaches a seminar on the rule of law, a course on the great cases that have shaped the nation and a course on estate planning. Conducting Stein lectures on campus, he also brings Supreme Court Justices to the school to speak every year since 2011. In 2017, Mr. Stein received the University President's Award for Outstanding Service and he received the University's Global Engagement Award in 2016.

Mr. Stein is the author of "Great Cases that Shaped the Nation" in 2007, with its second edition published in 2011 and its third in 2017. He has also authored several other books, including the recent "Forming a More Perfect Union: A History of the Uniform Law Commission" in 2013. Furthermore, Mr. Stein has contributed chapters to books, as well as dozens of articles in scholarly journals, documents and reports and other publications.

Currently involved as a longtime Academician of the International Academy of Estate and Trust Law since 1981, Mr. Stein was on the founding board of directors for the Center for Treatment of Torture Victims. He is an elected fellow of the American Bar Foundation where Mr. Stein served on the board of directors and as state co-chair. Mr. Stein is also a longstanding member of the American Bar Association, and the American Law Institute, among others, where he served in multiple capacities.

Mr. Stein holds a Bachelor of Science in law and a Doctor of Jurisprudence, summa cum laude, from the University of Minnesota. He has been admitted to practice by the Wisconsin and Minnesota Bar Associations. He also received an honorary Doctor of Laws from Uppsala University in Sweden in 1993. Desiring to become a lawyer from a very young age, Mr. Stein knew that his role could enable him to help and serve others.

A strong value in his life, Mr. Stein has also maintained a strong interest in international programs in an effort to bring people of various different backgrounds together. It is the narrative that has ran through his career. Mr. Stein has been highlighted in approximately 60 editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law and Who's Who in the World.
