With more than 30 years of experience, Dr. Perry has been recognized by the University of Notre Dame as professor emeritus of French and Francophone Studies since 2016, having been an associate professor since 2002. Prior to this appointment, she served as an assistant professor from 1995 to 2002 and as an instructor from 1993 to 1995. Previously, she held the position of teaching assistant at Princeton University from 1990 to 1991. Dr. Perry began her career at Indiana University as a teaching assistant from 1987 to 1989.

Before embarking on her professional path, Dr. Perry pursued an education at Indiana University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in French, summa cum laude, in 1987. She continued her academic efforts with a Master of Arts in French, summa cum laude, in 1989, also at Indiana University. Dr. Perry concluded her studies in 1995 at Princeton University, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy.

Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Dr. Perry has participated in numerous endeavors in her professional circles. She has contributed to Conseil International d'Etudes Francophones as president from 2003 to 2005, The Pollination Project as grant advisor since 2014, The Humane Party as volunteer and editing coordinator since 2016, and the International Cultic Studies Association as international correspondent since 2016. Likewise, Dr. Perry is a volunteer for VegMichiana since 2011 and she serves as co-organizer of Michiana VegFest since 2017 and Co-Chair since 2018.

Dr. Perry found success with her written works as well, having penned many articles to esteemed journals in her profession. She also authored "Persephone Unbound: Dionysian Aesthetics in the Works of Anna de Noailles" in 2003 and edited "Anna de Noailles: A Life of Poems, Poems of a Life" in 2012. Furthermore, Dr. Perry was the editor-in-chief of the scholarly journal Nouvelles Études Francophones from 2004 to 2009.

In addition to her primary profession, Dr. Perry remains affiliated with organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. Since 1991, she has maintained involvement with the Modern Language Association. She has also been the member of various professional associations and honor societies. Dr. Perry was previously active as a Student Advisory Committee member for the Vice President of Indiana University, board member of the Association of Princeton Graduate Alumni, and graduate student representative for the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at Princeton University.

In light of her exceptional undertakings, Dr. Perry has accrued several accolades and honors throughout her career. She was recognized as a Fellow of the Nanovic Institute for European Studies at the University of Notre Dame from 1994 to 2016 and Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame from 2005 to 2016. She was also presented with the Edmund P. Joyce, C.S.C. Award for Teaching Excellence from the University of Notre Dame in 2010, the Chevalier Award from the French Ordre des Palmes Académiques in 2006, the Distinguished Woman Award from the University of Notre Dame in 2004, the Kaneb Teaching Award from the University of Notre Dame in 2003 and the Service Award from Conseil International d'Etudes Francophones in 2011. She further obtained a Summer Research Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities in 1997. Dr. Perry was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of American Women.
