At the start of his career, he served as assistant professor for Southeastern Louisiana University, and assistant and associate professor for Indiana University Northwest. Over the years, he has specialized in teaching micro and macroeconomics, public finance, money and banking, and the economics of education, while also maintaining his research interests in economic growth and development, consumer behavior and restaurant tipping, economics of education, and economic education.
An expert in his field, Dr. Lin holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics from National Taiwan University, and a Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in economics from Pennsylvania State University. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, he maintains affiliation with the American Economic Association, Western Economic Association International and Southern Economic Association. He also lends his expertise to the Journal of Global Research in Education and Social Science and the Hospitality and Tourism Management International Journal. For his excellence in the field, he has been recognized many times, earning the Outstanding Performance in Research and Scholarly Activity Award, Trustee Teaching Award, and Founders Day Teaching Award through Indiana University Northwest, the latter of which was one of the highlights of his career.
